What a Day!

Boy did I have a day and a half yesterday. For some reason when I went to my blog yesterday morning to get the links for Mo's Hop all I got was a message that it had been removed!!! WHAT! So for about 12 hours my blog completely disappeared from blogland - I must say it was pretty scary and apologies to those of you who tried to visit. I tried everything to contact Blogger but each time I came up against a brick wall - you need to be SIGNED IN to contact them and not only had my blog disappeared but my account had been disabled too - apparently due to a violation of Bloggers Terms!!!

I'm telling you this because thanx to some wonderful help from my friends and teamies via Facebook I finally found the right solution. I had to pretend I didn't know my own password and request assistance with it. I was told there had been sone "unusual activity" on my blog so once I verified who I was and changed my password my blog re-appeared. It's just a shame they don't send you an email notification of what's going on!

So a tip for you all - there are HACKERS out there and the best way you can protect yourself is to regularly change your password - I've had the same one since I started this blogging adventure! I'm a little wary now and am trying to figure out if there is any way I can back up my blog - and I'm hoping everything is fine for now!

I hope my little story saves some of you from the stress I faced yesterday!

xXx

Hi Deb, I was one of those who popped over for a visit yesterday and got the message you had cancelled your blog, I though mayb you were doing a blog makeover over or something along those lines. I will deff need to go change my password now. I just wish these hackers! would find something better to do as its pretty sad that they are hacking into our craft blogs now. So glad you have it sorted and all is back to normal. Thanks for the info.xxx

Hi Debbie

I know that you were hoping to go home and your blog would be magically up again so when I checked later that day and no blog - I was stressed for you.

So glad that it all worked out and you are back up and running.

Ta for the password advice and I hope that you have a much more relaxing day today.

Oh no that sux that someone tried to hack your account. I had someone get in once but thankfully that hadn't done anything. Changed the password real quick. In fact I changed all my passwords that day too.

Hi Debbie! I can imagine how stressful this was. We try not to care or to worry ... but somehow we still feel "violated" in a tiny way! I had a hacker copy my facebook account just recently ... and send friend requests to my friend's list. Then started chatting with them in chat and asking them to send money for a lawyer who could get them $70,000! I tried to block them ... and only managed to block myself. I didn't have access for 3 days. It was with the help of Facebook friends that I managed to sort it out. But ... I was pretty ticked off at the nerve of this guy! So glad you are back and nothing is missing! Thanks for the tips! Hugs xx
