Paper Piecing in La La Land

This week in La La Land we are paper piecing. La La Land images are perfect to paper piece as they have large areas to work with. I chose 3 different patterns from one of my paper pads and used them for Marci's outfit as well as for the background. I also used the papers for the rolled roses and faux buttons so everything ties together well.

As well as our BLOG where you can check out inspiration from my amazing teamies, La La Land Crafts also have a Facebook Page HERE and La La Lands Facebook Group HERE. We love seeing your amazing creations using La La Land Stamps and Dies too.

Star Topper for the Tree

With Christmas just around the corner I thought how cute would it be to colour up this little guy and have him reaching up to put the star on top of the tree. It's always been a tradition in my home for one of my kids to add the decoration of choice to the top of the tree - even if we had to lift them up and help - although it's been a few years since we've had to do that - LOL.

This little cutie is called Hanging the Star by Mo Manning. I've also used the French Window die from Poppystamps and the Christmas Tree die from La La Land Crafts to help complete my little scene.

Another Baby Onesie Card

Recently I made THIS card for my daughter's boss and one of the girls my daughter worked for asked if I could make something similar for a friend of hers - another non-gender specific card. Yellow is always a safe option when you can't use pink or blue and I paired it with Kraft and white - a lovely fresh colour combo. This time around I chose the gorgeous Butterfly Baby from Saturated Canary to colour up.

Once again the card was cut using my Cameo - I LOVE this machine!!!!

Giving Thanks in La La Land

With it being Thanksgiving in America the team at La La Land are joining in the fun and "Giving Thanx". I cut my card out using my Cameo - the words are attached to the top of the front and the cream card behind is on the inside of the card. I used Websters DP on the front - it almost doesn't need any embellishing but I do love the texture of adding flowers and bling.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #173

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges it's "All About Books". My mojo has been sadly lacking over the past few days since being sick, with projects taking me significantly longer than usual to put together so I like the way they look. But late last week my good friend Deb Adams sent me the link to an AMAZING tutorial to make a little book basically out of scraps. I have long been a follower of Amy from Stampin'Stuff and was surprised I'd missed this little gem but soo glad Deb let me know about it!

I had NO IDEA what I was going to create for this week's challenge but late Friday night I decided I was so excited about this tutorial that I wanted to see if I could get it done! Shame I had to take my son to tennis comp on Saturday morning!!!!! I did take a few short-cuts on this to get it done - not letting the glue or tea-stained pages drying properly for example - LOL - but am loving how it turned out and am feeling those creative juices flowing again! The spine of this is half a toilet roll tube cut lengthwise to give you an idea of size. I used some offcut microfibre suede to cover the outside but brown cardstock in place of fabric on the inside as the fabric took too long to glue down.

Amy uses album binders to hold her pages together - but with no time to go shopping I had to improvise and used some twine to tie everything together - after discovering glue alone just wasn't going to cut it! The holes are all there when I get a chance to change them over though!

Don't forget to check out the amazing inspiration from the rest of the fabulous MDUC DT on our blog HERE.

Busy Town

Recently I had the honour of colouring up one of the new village backgrounds for the Make it Crafty store and figured I may as well pop it on a card too. I hope seeing it here makes you realise what a fun little place this is. I've nick-named it Busy Town as my card seemed to end up with lots going on - LOL.

I added one of the cute new Christmas fairies off to one side - she's casting some special Christmas wishes over the town. I picked out the yellow glow from the village windows to colour her up so she stood out and yet still looked like she belonged. I also used one of the new chipboard borders which I cut into 2 pieces to frame the town up after popping on some pearl "berries". A few more pops of yellow with some of my favourite embellishments - flowers - helps to tie it all together.

Using Numbers in La La Land

This week in La La Land we are using numbers in our projects. With Christmas looming I felt this was the perfect project to create. The pattern for the number cubes and stand are from the Silhouette store and are cut using my Cameo.

As you can see the blocks can be changed around to count up to Christmas Day - a fun chore for the kids to do each morning. A little Christmas scene on the side adds some fun.

As well as our BLOG where you can check out inspiration from my amazing teamies, La La Land Crafts also have a Facebook Page HERE and La La Lands Facebook Group HERE. We love seeing your amazing creations using La La Land Stamps and Dies too.

Mo's Dream Team Blog Hop

This month Mo's Dream Team are hop hop hopping along with some gift ideas for you - perfect with Christmas looming. Our wonderful Hostess with the Mostess is Kerttu this month and she's asked us to create a card with a little gift inside. Kerttu's Blog is the start of all the fun but if you are already hopping you should have landed here from Alice's Blog.

I used my Cameo and a pattern from the Silhouette store to create this "Gift" shaped card with tabs to hold a gift card inside - the pattern comes with a paper bow but I wanted to add the sparkly ribbon instead  I used one of my favourite of Mo's Christmas images to decorate the outside, Little Elf Finn is one of the Bauble Babies and looks soooo cute swinging from underneath the ribbon bow.

Your next stop on the hop is Mina's Blog where I'm sure there will be an amazing gift idea to inspire.

In case you get lost along the way here's the blog hop order for you - you'll find the links on my left sidebar under Mo's logo....

Another Scrapmatts Christmas Decoration

I had such a fun time at the last papercraft show checking out the latest releases from Scrapmatts - this is the new Mini Tray Round - it measures about 10cm/ 4" and is perfect for a Christmas Decoration. I added some  more Meg's Garden DP, some Snowtex snow, Scrapmatts snowflakes and sentiment, pearls and Prima roses. I love the vintage feel this mix has given my project. The white chipboard has been sparkled up with my clear glitter gel pen. Hope you like it too....

Look Ma - No Colouring!

Today I have something a little different for you - a 3D Christmas Tree kit designed by Scrapmatts - where I have the honour of being their Guest DT. The kit comes with a solid and cut out tree sitting on a 2-tier base with a sentiment - FABULOUS! I covered the background tree with Christmas music paper and then stuck it to the detailed wooden piece. Some cut outs from a Christmas Paper pad from Meg's Garden were added as well as some more Scrapmatts chipboard, texture paste snow and 3D flowers. I "borrowed" the idea of adding the Santa and sleigh after seeing Scrapmatts DT member Angella Peardon's tree and loving the whimsy. The Snowtex paste adds some strength to the overhanging parts.

Here is a close up of the base - I painted the wooden doily edges with gold and added a piece of designer paper on top and then glued it all together. I added more gold paint to the tree pot, the clock and star I glued on to tie everything together. The star on top of the tree got the gold glitter treatment. This was such a fun project to make

Christmas Cutie

This little cutie in the oversized hat is called "Santa's Hat" - this is the girl version but there is a little boy too - you'll find him HERE. I decided to paper piece her onesie and am loving the way it's turned out. The "icing" on the cookie is also paper pieced to match - it looks like it has sprinkles on - LOL. Once again I've used my Spellbinders Floral Oval die to cut her out - LOVE this die! The Santa and sleigh silhouette is a lasercut chipboard piece from Scrapmatts which I have popped up on some scrap dots. The fur on the hat is all glittered up - just perfect for some Christmas sparkle!

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #171

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we are asking you to create a Christmas Decoration or Ornament. I found cute little glass cupcake stand recently and thought it would be fun to create a table centrepiece with it by popping a little scene inside.

This is the perfect project to use some of my Mini World Magnolia's in. I have Santa popping a present under the tree while Tilda is peeking around the corner watching, The tree backdrop is cut using a Tim Holtz tree line die and the big tree is made from 3 Magnolia tree die cuts folded in half and glued together to give a 3D look. The "Noel" and reindeer laser cut chipboard are from Scrapmatts - I gave a gloss finish on the word which is why it's reflecting the light and not showing up nice and dark.

And don't forget to check out the MDUC BLOG too see the rest of the festive treats my teamies have created to inspire you to join in!

A Christmas Sled

Zoe from Make it Crafty really is the most wonderful person and "boss lady". Recently I asked her if she could make me a sled to decorate to hang on my wall for Christmas. I also have a pattern where a rusty sled is decorated with little 3D characters and sitting flat on a shelf  and I couldn't find a sled (that project is still in the works - LOL) . Zoe came up with this easy to put together chipboard kit and gave me the task of decorating it for the store. I wanted the sled to be the star so I didn't add a coloured image - just some Christmas elements.

I added some designer paper to the top of the sled after painting it white and spraying over the basecoat with a metallic moon mist. The snowflakes are cut from a frame which is also Make it Crafty chipboard - I LOVE it's versatility and what it adds to a project!

I can't wait to see what you guys can do with this FABULOUS kit - I have soo many ideas my head is buzzing ....
