The Craft's Meow Preview - Vintage Snowflakes and Vintage Ornaments

Welcome to Day 3 of The Craft's Meow previews - these sets will all be available from November 1st.

My first card today uses Vintage Snowflakes by Nina B Designs. Snowflakes have long been a passion of mine and the designs in these are simple breathtaking! They really didn't need much to help make them shine - and the gorgeous sentiment is part of the set too. I simply used some white embossing powder to bring these to life.

My second card uses Vintage Ornaments by Nina B Designs. The classic elegance of these images make them wonderfully easy to use in so many ways - just check out what the rest of the DT gals came up with and you'll know how right I am! I'm hoping to use these to make some decorations for my tree soon! Some sparkly gold embossing powder and gold pearls gives them a fabulous Christmas richness.

And if you want a chance to win one of these stamp sets you'll need to hop on over to our BLOG and leave a comment by 9:00 pm Pacific to be in the draw for one of you to win Vintage Snowflakes and one of you to win Vintage Ornaments!!! The winners will be announced in tomorrow's post on our BLOG - where you can also check out snippets from the rest of the DT.

We are also having a competition on our Facebook page. If we reach 1000 fans by November 1st, we'll give away a set of the SEVEN new stamp sets to one lucky FB fan, so please be sure to join us there and share with a friend!!!

Make It Crafty is Sponsoring The Squirrel and The Fox Challenges

This week Make it Crafty is sponsoring a fabulous new Aussie challenge blog called The Squirrel and The Fox - named after the co-founders - friends Tracey (A Crafty Fox) and Linda (Squirrel Snippets). The girls like to base their challenges around things Australian which is great for an Aussie gal like me - LOL.

The theme for this challenge is "Hat's or Flowers" and relates back to the Melbourne Cup - a famous horse race based in my home town and running this coming Tuesday. The horses often run second fiddle to the Fashion on the Field and the amazing array of hats on display though. The roses at Flemington Racecourse are always spectacular on race day too so they HAD to play a part in my scene. I've used 3 different images from Make it Crafty - Chantelle at the Races has been specially designed for Cup Day with the hat being all important. I believe orange is an IN colour at the races this year so I gave Chantelle an orange outfit. I've combined her with Zoe's Rose Garden (fountain removed) and Pebblestone Patch.

The DP is actually from one of my Halloween pads but I love the fact that the diamond shapes are reminiscent of jockey silks - adding to the race day feel along with the pearls and lace.

Copics used - E11, E00, E000, R20, R11, E44, E43, E42, E41, E40, C8, C5, C4, C2, 100, Y15, Y11, Y02, B05, B0000, E08, R08, W3, W2, W1, W00, YG67. YG63, YG61, YR23, YR07, YR04, YR02, YR00, YR000, YR0000

The Craft's Meow Preview - Season's Greetings and Santa's Little Helper

Well it's Day 2 of previews for The Craft's Meow and we have two more FABULOUS Christmas sets to show you - what can I say - I LOVE Christmas! Release day for these is November 1st.

My first card uses Season's Greetings by Nina B Designs. A fabulous Christmas set to delight the senses. I've embossed the main image in a glittering gold and used gold, red and green to accent it. I also sprayed my ribbon with gold glimmer mist to add more Christmas richness to it.

Our second set is a bit more playful - it's called Santa's Little Helper by Maree Truelove and I'm sure you'll be able to have a heap of fun with this one - too cute!

And if you want a chance to win one of these stamp sets you'll need to hop on over to our BLOG and leave a comment by 9:00 pm Pacific to be in the draw for one of you to win Season's Greetings and one of you to win Santa's Little Helper!!! The winners will be announced in tomorrow's post on our BLOG - where you can also check out snippets from the rest of the DT.

Make It Colourful - Texture

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR MY CRAFT'S MEOW PREVIEW POST

This week over at Make it Colourful we are challenging you to create texture using your colouring mediums. I decided a nice furry bear would work for me - so I checked out the Teddy Bo images I have hiding on my computer ready to use and found this cutie - Bo and Rudolf. I've popped them into a Winter scene using images from Make It Crafty - the lantern is from Festive Elements and trees and brick wall from the Winter Objects sets.

I've added texture to the animals by "dotting in" their fur instead of blending the colours together - and the dashes on the brick wall add more texture as do more dots on the trees. Don't forget to check out the awesome inspiration for you by the MiC DT at the Make it Crafty GALLERY, and you'll need to enter your project in the gallery too.

Copics used - G82, G40, G24, G20, YG0000, B000, B0000, R89, R46, R35, R20, R11, R00, Y08, Y02, Y0000, YR23, C00, T6, T4, T2, T0, W7, W5, W3, W2, W1, W00, E57, E55, E53, E51, E43, E42, E41, E40, E35, E33, E31

The Craft's Meow Preview - The Merry Best and Happy Hoo-lidays

Oh My Goodness has The Craft's Meow gone all out for this month's release - not one, not two but SEVEN fabulous new sets to inspire and delight. As a result we are showcasing 2 per day to begin with and the HUGE release all happening on November 1st.

This first adorable set is Happy Hoo-lidays by Jenny Suchin. The more I see of Jenny's owls the more fun they seem to be having and I just LOVE owls! This cute guy all tangled up just makes me want to smile.

Our second preview for the day is a set called The Merry Best by Kaitlyn Ord. A fabulously versatile set perfect for any Christmas project. I was inspired by my dear friend Andrea to make this cute gift card holder - click HERE to get the instructions. The sentiment and snowflake image work so well with the DP I used.
Don't forget to pop on over to The Craft's Meow Blog where you'll see much more to whet your appetite for these amazing sets - I can tell you the DT have been having soooo much fun preparing for this release.

Until tomorrow - MEOW!

There's a New Star in Heaven

Last night I sat and coloured with sadness in my heart and tears in my eyes. Making sympathy cards is never an easy thing to do especially when it's for a baby. One of my blogging friends lost her 2 month old grand-daughter to SIDS on Tuesday. I can't even begin the imagine the pain she and her family are going through at the moment.

Creating a card seemed such an insignificant thing to do until my dear friend Kylie, with her beautiful card for our mutual friend, reminded me that a little piece of decorated cardstock represents friendship and support in this awful time and you can't underestimate the power of that.

R.I.P. sweet baby girl - there's a new star in heaven watching over us now.

A Mo's Christmas Candle

I've always loved the look of images popped onto a candle and a couple of weekends ago I got a chance to remind myself how much fun it was to do when I had some girls over for a Girl's Night In for cancer research and our sponsor Bronlyn from Shopbron brought some candles to play with. I'd never tried colouring with copics for candles as I was worried they'd bleed - but Bron gave us the right advice and showed us the right paper to use. It's a bit thicker than regular tissue paper and is used as a packing material - I'm not sure where to get it from as Bron left me enough for another 100 candles!! It has a shiny side and a matt side - stamp/print on the shiny side and colour on the matt side. Now watch this space for more candles to come - LOL.

I wanted to try using my digis rather than a rubber stamp and used Lydia's amazing tutorial on how to do this HERE. I did get some ink smudges on the paper but they were away from the image and I just cut them away. I used Mo Manning's adorable Urchin with Bird to play with and I'm quite happy with the result. The paper doesn't allow your copics to blend as well as blending paper but it's not too bad.

I hope this inspires you to give this a go too - it's a lot of fun and easier than worrying about fancy card layouts - LOL.

Copics used - E20, E11, E00, E000, E44, E43, E42, E41, B00, B000, G28, G24, G21, R89, R46, R35, R24, Y35, YR31, YR30, YR23

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #119

This week over at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we are asking you to 'Get Punchy'. Now you can use dies as well but I figured I'm always using my dies so it was time to get the punches out for a play and challenge myself. I've used a MS border punch to edge my circle and some SU oval punches for my sentiment. My DP is from Magnolia - it is SUCH gorgeous paper to use - if you can bear to cut into it!!!

EDIT - HERE'S the link to show you how to use your border punches around circles thanx to my lovely friend Norma!

Now make sure you check out what the rest of the MDUC DT have come up with inspire you on our BLOG.

What a Day!

Boy did I have a day and a half yesterday. For some reason when I went to my blog yesterday morning to get the links for Mo's Hop all I got was a message that it had been removed!!! WHAT! So for about 12 hours my blog completely disappeared from blogland - I must say it was pretty scary and apologies to those of you who tried to visit. I tried everything to contact Blogger but each time I came up against a brick wall - you need to be SIGNED IN to contact them and not only had my blog disappeared but my account had been disabled too - apparently due to a violation of Bloggers Terms!!!

I'm telling you this because thanx to some wonderful help from my friends and teamies via Facebook I finally found the right solution. I had to pretend I didn't know my own password and request assistance with it. I was told there had been sone "unusual activity" on my blog so once I verified who I was and changed my password my blog re-appeared. It's just a shame they don't send you an email notification of what's going on!

So a tip for you all - there are HACKERS out there and the best way you can protect yourself is to regularly change your password - I've had the same one since I started this blogging adventure! I'm a little wary now and am trying to figure out if there is any way I can back up my blog - and I'm hoping everything is fine for now!

I hope my little story saves some of you from the stress I faced yesterday!

Mo's Dream Team Blog Hop

It's the third Thursday of the month and that means it time for Mo's Dream Team to come together and hold our themed hop - I love our hops! It's always fun to get together with these amazing ladies and have some fun. This month the theme is Colours of Autumn and the gorgeous Jak is the Host - which means the fun all starts on Jak's blog.

If you're already hopping along you should have arrived here from Alice's Blog - where I'm sure there was some gorgeous creation to inspire you. And don't forget to comment on each stop for your chance to win one of two $5 Mo vouchers.

I've used Mo's beautiful image - Sadie with Apples - and Mo is going to hate me for using her because she's not in the new store yet and I realised that too late - SORRY MO! She's in the old store HERE for now. I LOVE this gal with her masses of curls and she was perfect for colouring in Fall colours. It's hard to think of Fall with it being Spring here in Australia but I love the earthy tones.

It's time to hop on over to Mina's Blog where I know there will be something amazing to see.

In case you get lost along the hop the order is Jak, Lori, Jane, Julie, Heidy, Alice, Debbie {me}, Mina - you can find the links under Mo's logo on my left sidebar.

I've used this week's Sketch Saturday layout for my card so am entering this over there.

Copics used - R20, R11, E11, E00, E000, YR000, YR04, YR14, YR16, YR61, G40, G29, G24, G21, G20, G000, E77, E49, E44, E43, E42, E41, E40, E19, E15, E13, E08, B000, B0000, R89, R29, R17, R05

Swimming For Katie

From October 10-16 some of the best stampers are joining together to support and encourage our friend and fellow stamper, Katie Renz, who is currently battling inoperable gastric cancer.  If you're not familiar with her, Katie’s cancer story started just before Christmas last year.  This young, beautiful, healthy, vibrant mother of 3 with her infectious smile was suddenly diagnosed with an inoperable cancer, virtually overnight.  A few tummy aches and then stage 4 gastric cancer.  Her first post about it is here.  The idea of “Swimming for Katie” came from her recent post here.

This exclusive stamp used in my sample, designed by Becky Oehlers is available as a clear stamp, as well as a digis or a dig and SVG cut file.  100% of the profits go to Katie's fund to help her and her young family.  Her husband Kevin and her three young children need our help and support.  In addition to the Keep Swimming Octopus, Marianne Walker and True =D Doodle Designs both also donated digis that are for sale.  Direct donations are also being accepted.  Information central is HERE.  This is a permanent page that will stay active at i {heart} papers with current information and the full 3 day blog hop listing, as well as the donation button.

I hope you will join me in supporting Katie through a purchase or donation.  We hope you will be inspired by our hop to purchase or donate to this amazing family in their time of need. Thank you!

Here is our group for the blog hop.....

Tickled Pink Birthday Bash Blog Hop

How exciting - today we're celebrating Tickled Pink Stamps 2nd Birthday with a blog hop. You should have started over at Kellie's blog and if you are already hopping you should have landed here from Amy's blog.

When the idea came up for the hop Kellie decided to let us all choose our favourite Tickled Pink Stamps image to play with - well let me tell you that was no easy thing to work out!!!! In fact I STILL can't choose just one favourite but my heart did melt when I first saw this gorgeous Lil Lad Eric - with his cute glasses and sweet smile he is definately a great male image to have - perfect for teenagers and those a few years past the teens too.

The hop runs from 16th October - 19th October. Kellie would like everyone who takes part to come back and tell us who their favourite image is and then they have a chance to win a $25 Voucher for Tickled Pink Stamps.

Now it's time for you to hop on over to Emma's blog.

Make It Colourful - Colouring Snow

This fortnight at Make It Colourful we are asking you to colour snow - not too hard! I use a mix of pale icy blues and greys to give some definition to the snow - and a touch of icy glitter doesn't hurt either.

Luckily for the DT we had some well timed new Winter images to play with - and if you're not into merging there are even some gorgeous pre-merged selections for you to try out. I paired the oh so funny Snow Elves with the Winter Fence and the Small Pine Tree in the Winter Objects Collection.

The die cuts for the snowflake and sign are from Spellbinders.

Don't forget to pop over to our GALLERY to check out the rest of the awesome DT inspiration and then come along and join in the fun and get ready for Christmas!

Tickled Pink Stamps is Sponsoring It's All About The Vintage Challenge

This week Tickled Pink Stamps is sponsoring It's All About The Vintage Challenges where the challenge is to create a Halloween Decoration and/or a Digital Image card. I decided I wanted to make another recipe tag so I hit the internet and found this cute recipe for Chocolate Mice HERE. I included the picture from the recipe on the front of the tag and added Lil Haunts Mummy Christina for more spooky fun.

The inside of the tag is where you'll find the recipe and the back of the tag has some fun details - I just love this cute little stamp I found with the 4 mice on it - too cute! We hope you can come along and play for a chance to win some Tickled Pink Stamps prizes.

4 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate
1/3 cup sour cream
1 cup chocolate cookie crumbs
1/3 cup chocolate cookie crumbs

12 (2 inch) pieces long red vine licorice

Hugs and Kisses with a Bunch of Flowers

Mo is bringing out some gorgeous new images at the moment but sometimes it's fun to remember how amazing her older images are. This cutie is called 'Bunches' and you can find her in Mo's store HERE. She's long been a favourite of mine - having to stand on tip-toes to stop dragging the ribbons from such an enormous bouquet of flowers - who would question they came from the heart!

I've used this week's fabulous layout from Sketch Saturday for my card.

Copics used - E11, E00, E000, R20, R11, BG0000, B02, B00, B000, B0000, E43, E42, E40, E18, E17, E15, E13, E08, G28, G24, G21, G20, YR14, YR02, YR00, YR000, YR0000, Y19, Y15, Y08, Y11. Y000, Y0000, R85

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #117 - Halloween

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we are celebrating Halloween. We have our wonderful sponsor Stampyland joining us again this week too.

I decided I didn't need anymore Halloween cards - especially as we don't celebrate it here in Asutralia - so I decided to make a tag - but not any tag - a recipe tag! I loved doing my recipe set a couple of weeks ago so much it inspired me to keep the idea going! I had planned to attach this tag to a jar of pre-mixed dry ingredients - but unfortunately I didn't have a jar large enough!

I found this Betty Crocker recipe HERE. Along with this recipe I learnt that the slight red tint in this cake comes from the reaction between the acid in both the buttermilk and chocolate and the alkaline base of the baking soda - I don't know about you but I found that interesting.

Be sure to check out our BLOG to see what the rest of the MDUC DT have come up with for this spooky challenge.

I'm also entering this in the TOMIC challenge #18

It's Snowing in the Streets

Isn't this little angel from Mo Manning just adorable?? Her name is 'Ragged Angel' and you can find her instore HERE. I love the fact that she looks like a little street urchin - in her patched clothes and unlaced boots - after all the street kids certainly need an angel on their side - especially as the snow whips around in the frosty winds.

I made my card into a shaker card - just so I could add some 'real snow' feel with it moving around inside the frame and around the little angel. I used a mix of white flower soft and chunky glitter to create my snow. I didn't want to add too many fancy embellishments as I wanted to keep it simple - in line with the ragged street urchin feel.

Copics used - R20, R11, E11, E00, E000, B00, B000, C0, C00, E44, E43, E41, G99, G85, G82, Y19, Y08, W3, W2, W00, R39, R37, R32, R02, R01, R000

Make It Colourful Monthly Challenge - Spooky Sky

As I mentioned in my post yesterday over in the Make It Colourful Gallery we have started holding monthly challenges. For the month of October we are asking you to create a "Spooky Sky" - check it out HERE. I decided to use the pumpkin head from Make It Crafty's Mini Headless Horseman and pop it in place of the moon in my scene. Then came the fun part - playing with lots of eerie cool greys and then a pop of colour glowing out of his eyes and mouth - as if there was a candle on inside. I used my wonky squares to cut out my background and added a raffia bow with a bat cut-out on the top - and then popped on some orange stickles to make his eyes glow too!

To colour the background I used ideas I learnt from doing the sunset but using darker colours, I also added some white ink mist - though it hasn't shown up the best in my photo.

Along came Make It Crafty's Mini Frankenstein for some added fun.

Make It Colourful - Sheer Clothing

Over at Make It Colourful we are changing the way we do things a little. Firstly we are using the new Gallery HERE and then we are doing forthnightly (bi-weekly) challenges and a monthly challenge instead of the weekly challenges.

The current 2 week challenge is to colour an image with sheer (see through) clothing - this challenge started last Friday so apologies for the late notice - my blog was busy busy busy last week! I've given Make It Crafty's Angelica Prays a sheer skirt - you can see the skintones of her thighs through it - but luckily the folds allow her some modesty - LOL. Don't forget to check out what the rest of the amazind MiC DT have done with this challenge HERE.

Now before I go I want to remind you about our Christmas Blog Hop - it's on until October 12th with lots of blog candy to be given away - each DT member has something and Zoe has something extra special on her blog HERE! It all starts HERE. You'll find my post HERE with my candy and details on how to grab a cute freebie for yourself as well!

This week over at the Emerald Faerie Garden we have a fun new challenge for you - you need to get out your punches and dies - now seriously - how hard is THAT - LOL. If you're anything like me you'll have one or two lying around in your craft room!

I wanted to make sure my dies and punches were the only things used to embellish my card - and let them be the stars along with my gorgeous faeries - these are Kenz and Tilly and you can find them instore HERE.

And if you want some truly amazing inspiration check out what the rest if the EFG gals have done on OUR BLOG - all I can say is WOW!

Punches - Martha Stewart round the page, corner punch
Dies - Nestabilities, MFT small rolled rose, Magnolia swirl

Copics used - E11, E00, E000, R20, R11, E44, E43, E42, E41, E40, B0000, G28, G21, G20, G0000, W00, RV66, RV63, RV55, RV10, V12, V01, V0000 - just a note - I laid the V12, V01 and V0000 over the pinker shades of Tilly's dress after I finished my card and realised the rolled roses were more violet than pink - don't be afraid of playing with your colours!
