Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #16 - Willy Wonka

This week at The Burtonesque Dolls we have a fabulous challenge - and one close to my heart - CHOCOLATE - LOL. The challenge is Willy Wonka! We're asking you to create a new candy box, candy bag, chocolate bar, any fun and funky new candy you would find in Willy Wonka's factory. You can even create a fun and funky candy Wrapper! The possibilities are endless here.

Now if you check out MY project you'll realise I made a bit of a boo boo. I read the brief AFTER I had finished my card : (  How could I be sooo silly and make a card when I could have done a CHOCOLATE BOX - LOL?!?!?! My only excuse is that I've been madly trying to get ahead with my DT projects as I'm heading away for a couple of weeks. Ah well - at least I made the faux chocolate bars ON the card!

I've used a fabulous Tiddly Inks image for Willy Wonka. The chocolate bar wrappers were made from a photo I found on the internet - I resized it to the size I wanted and made some chocolate to pop inside it.

Now there's a little extra incentive to enter this week - we are going to pick some new DT members from the entrants - so what are you waiting for - go check out what the rest of the Dolls have done to inspire you and then off you go to get your chocolate fix happening - LOL

Magnolia Down Under #61 - A Recipe

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we have cooked up a great challenge for you - and here's the recipe you need to follow  - use 3 papers, 2 buttons and 1 ribbon.

I decided to pull out my Halloween Tilda from last year's collection as she arrived in Australia a little late last year and she's sooooo cute. The DP I used is from Magnolia and the 2 faux buttons were made using the same DP, some CS and crystal effects. The gorgeous sparkly spiderweb ribbon was a gift from one of my US crafting friends and fellow Burtonesque Doll - thanx Gloria - she took pity on me and our lack of Halloween goodies here in Australia and sent me a couple of spools of delicious ribbon! The sentiment is a sneak peek from a soon to be released set over at Tickled Pink Stamps.

There is some more AMAZING inspiration from the MDUC DT for you to check out over at our blog - HERE. Hope you find some time to play along.

A Wedding Card from Just INKlined

Just INKlined have some wonderful and unique images for weddings - and this one is called Garter and Bow and is available from the store HERE. It was such a delight to colour and I used my clear Spica pen to add quite a bit of subtle sparkle on the garter.

It was an interesting experience showing my family the coloured image - my 12yo son had NO IDEA what a garter was so an interesting discussion ensued - I'm still not quite sure he understands - LOL.

I didn't want to overpower the image too much - but I do have a problem keeping things CAS, as you may have noticed - so I added a few sparkled up flowers and a mesh bow over a black panel. The striped DP is from SEI.

Who Loves Anne of Green Gables??

This Mo Manning image is called "Prince Edward Island" and depicts one of my favourite childhood fictional characters - Anne of Green Gables - and she was a "must have" for me. You can purchase her from Mo's store HERE.

I remember having read all of the books and sitting through the series and movies everytime they came on the TV - no such thing as buying a television show on DVD or Blu-Ray in those days! I think I drove my family crazy. These days I'm obsessive when it comes to Pride and Prejudice - even though I studied it for 2 years in High School - LOL. I know my family roll their eyes whenever the DVD comes out - YAY - 6 HOURS of BBC excellence ; )

Anyway - back to my card! I just LOVE the way this has turned out - the colours and textures remind me of a Spring day - perfect for a young girl embarking on a new life! The DP is from 7 Gypsies - and has a marvellous array of colours and images - who needs more! Just pop the image on, some lace, flowers and pearls with some Spring butterflies and its done!

Tickled Pink Stamps Sponsors Haunted Designs

This week Tickled Pink Stamps is sponsoring the Haunted Design Challenge and the theme couldn't suit us any better - it's Pink on the Brink - that is pink with an edge and not "pretty in pink".

You know sometimes when you create something you're just not happy with - but others like it?!?!?! Well this card is one of those. I think having stepped away from it for a few days I don't hate it as much as I did - but I leave it to you to decide!

The gorgeous little skullies were made by my fellow Burtonesque Doll Glo and are available in several colours from Simply Betty Stamps HERE. The image (Lylah) is available from Tickled Pink Stamps and the sentiment is from a soon to be released TPS set. The background is a Magnolia stamp from last year's Halloween collection and the grass was cut using my Martha Stewart punch.

I've seen the inspiration from some of my other fellow TPS DT - as well as from the Haunted Design DT - so I hope you check them out and give this a go!

Spesch Stamps Mid-Month Release

Today is release day over at Spesch Designer Stamps - and it's also my last post for the Spesch Stamps DT. I wanted to take this opportunity to say thanx to Tracey and the other gals for having me on board for the last 4 months and to wish the newbies on the team good luck and happy colouring!

I'm showcasing 2 of the new images that are available from today - and I have to admit they are some of my favourites from Spesch.

This is "Draggy" - such a little cutie - I loved her as soon as I saw her!!! I had a ball bringing her to life with a bit of colour and texture. Look at that sweet expression on her face.

And this image is called "Forest Elf". Who wouldn't love to find this cutie floating around the bottom of the garden gathering blooms. The flowers at the top are part of the same image but I decided to cut them out separately for some added interest.

You can check out the rest of today's new releases over at the Spesch Stamps Blog - I'm sure the rest of the DT have created some fabulous cards to showcase these gorgeous images.

Little Baby Fairy Buns

I love ALL of Mo's Fairies and this little cutie is NO exception with her glittering wings and sweet smile. Her name is  Fairy Kiki and she can be found in Mo's store HERE. I did have to explain to my son that it was fine to show some fairy butt when he kept complaining that she was naked though - 12 year old boys seem to be a little sensitive on that subject - LOL!!!

I wanted Kiki to be the centre of attention so I went with a fairly simple layout. Some Basic Grey DP, pearl swirls and webster's roses add just enough interest without taking Kiki's spotlight away.

Apologies for the quality of the photo though - the weather here as been cold, wet and miserable and I had to resort to taking the photo under a daylight lamp - thanx to my lovely sister Sharon for lending it to me, it's been a saviour in this dull weather.

Simply Betty Stamps Challenge

Over at the Simply Betty Stamps Blog Betty has another challenge running with a FABULOUS prize... the winner will be our Guest DT for SBS for the month of September - which includes free images for new releases etc! For the challenge we're asking you to use a Simply Betty Stamps image with nesties or with primary colors, or you can combine them! SBS images can be found at the SBS store HERE.

For my card I've used the gorgeous Summer Emo London and a mix of nesties, dies and punches. My DP is from Stampin' Up. I've also added some crystal effects lenses to her sunglasses - and just imagine your favourite music is playing from the iPod - LOL.

The rest of the DT have come up with some fabulous inspiration for you and you can check their work and the competition rules out at the SBS blog... good luck everyone!

It's Mo's Dream Team Blog Hop Time

Yaaaay - it's the third Thursday of the month so that must mean it's Mo's Dream Team Blog Hop time again!!!!! This month our host is the gorgeous Rosette and she's asked us to use die cuts, nesties and punches - not a tough challenge for me at all - LOL.

If you haven't started at the beginning you can head back to Rosette's blog but if you're already hopping you should have arrived here from the super talented Cheryl's blog.

I've used Mo's gorgeous image Angel with Puppy(c) and she's available instore HERE. Be aware there are 4 different versions available and you can check them all out HERE. I've actually used my nestie and edge punch to cut out the designer paper - which I've then raised on dimensionals so the image is sitting in a recessed frame. The DP is from Kaisercraft's Utopia range. I used my sizzix die to cut out the flourishes which I then coated with glitter.

Your next stop on the hop is the amazing Mina's blog - hope you have fun hopping along!

If you get lost here's the hop list for you - you can find the blog links on my left sidebar under Mo's Dream Team logo!

The Card You Send When Someone Doesn't Want To Turn 40!

Last Saturday night I went to a girl's night out for a friend who's turning 40 this week - but like a lot of people she's not sure about admitting to the number. The evening out was labelled a "say good-bye to 39" party - so I decided to use this cute image from Just INKlined for her birthday card and remind her that she would be 39+. I used one of my cuttlebug alphabets to cut out the numbers and then glittered them up with some stickles. I also used my glaze pen to give him a shiny wet nose.

This little guy is called "Scamp Special Delivery" and is available for purchase HERE. He's soooo cute and you can use him to send any message you like! Luckily my friend got a good giggle out of this - or maybe it was the 40s survival package I put together for her - which included an LARGE box of chocolates and a bottle of my favourite strawberry champagne.

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #16 - Vincent

This week at The Burtonesque Dolls we have been asked to create a card based on Tim Burton's 1982 poem and short film Vincent. The premise of the story is that young Vincent Malloy dreams of being just like Vincent Price and loses himself in macabre daydreams. I decided to use Creeper Crew Jack from The Greeting Farm to portray the imaginative Vincent. I found the background pattern on the internet and thought is was twisted enough to suit my card - LOL. A quote I also found on the internet became my sentiment - and seemed appropriate as Vincent Malloy struggles with the reality of others!

If you're needing some more inspiration don't forget to check out The Doll's amazing creations at TBD blog HERE.

Pies For Sale!

I had soo much fun playing with this fabulous set of images Mo Manning brought out recently! It's called Bethy's Wagon and there are 18 different images to play with so you can create your own scene. I've merged 4 of them here using paint.NET - you can see my tutorial on merging digital images using this free software HERE.

It doesn't look like Bethy will have too many pies to sell if her little sister keeps munching on them - LOL - or are they good old fashioned mud pies and lil sis has brought a cookie from home??? I remember making mud pies with my sisters when I was little - it was sooo much fun even if they weren't too nice to eat - LOL. I can't even imagine my kids playing with mud - they are too busy playing Xbox or Wii - it's a bit sad really, but then I don't have to worry too much about all that extra washing - LOL.

Bethy's Wagon is available for purchase at Mo's store HERE.

Simply Betty Stamps School Emo Release Day Blog Hop

I hope everyone enjoyed the last 2 days of previews from the Simply Betty Stamps new Back to School Emo Kids - Betty gave us all an A+, LOL! Now today is release day and we're having a blog hop to celebrate - and Betty has asked the gals from The Burtonesque Dolls to join in the fun - so I get to play along with the talented gals from both of my DTs. For the hop Betty is offering some extra credit for a chance to win some Back to School Emos, as well as some other instore specials - you can check out all of the prize details at the Simply Betty Stamps Blog HERE - which also happens to be the starting and finishing place for the hop.

You should have arrived here from the gorgeous Catherine's blog - but if you get lost you can find the entire hop list at the SBS blog - the starting place.

I used the gorgeous Rio for my card - she's available NOW at the Simply Betty Stamps Store. She's standing in front of an embossed brick wall panel I made using my Tim Holtz folder and the sentiment is from the soon to be released set at Tickled Pink Stamps. I gave Rio's "bubble" a coating of crystal effects for soome added dimension.

Your next stop along the hop is the fabulous Gloria's blog. Good luck to you all and have fun hopping along!

Magnolia Down Under #59 - It Takes Two

This week over at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we are asking you to pop both Tilda AND Edwin on a card or project - the theme is "It Takes Two". With several weddings in my future I thought it was the perfect opportunity to get a card made - especially as this gorgeous couple hadn't even seen ink yet!

I love these soft neutral tonings and took the lead from this fabulous Stampin' Up DP - unfortunately this pattern was retired - soo sad as it was one of my all time favourites! All the glitter and bling I've added will help to celebrate this most joyful occasion!

I've already seen what the other gals have done with their creations - WOW - and you can check them out HERE - it's only a mouse click away to eye candy heaven! And we hope you get inspired to play along with us too!

Simply Betty Stamps School Emos - Preview Day 2

Today is day 2 of our previews for the new Back to School Emo Kids from Simply Betty Stamps. Tomorrow is the big release day blog hop so you don't have too long to wait before you can grab these cuties for yourselves.

Meet London - she's a little bit flirty with her game show hostess stance and winking eye - LOL. I used my new die-namics banner die from MFT to add a bit of extra fun - the letters were cut using one of my cuttlebug dies. The background panel was embossed using one of my Tim Holtz folders.

If you want to check out more of these fabulous imaages check out the rest of the DT previews on the SBS Blog HERE - and don't forget to pop back for our blog hop tomorrow - there will be prizes and specials on offer!

Tickled Pink Stamps Meets Anya Ink

This week Tickled Pink Stamps is sponsoring the Anya Ink Challenge and the TPS team were able to join the fun. The challenge is a recipe - 3 flowers, 2 buttons and a bow. It was great to join in because it gave me the excuse to ink up my sadly neglected CC stamps - you can use either Greeting Farm OR CC Stamps for Anya Ink.

As you can see I haven't made a card - I actually made a little gift bag. The bag pattern is one of the 3 bags in Becky Roberts' (Inking Idaho) Tres Chic Handbag tutorial - and soo much fun to make. I decided to make this little bag for one of my fellow MDUC DT members to pop a little birthday present in - I know she LOVES handbags and I not only got to meet her yesterday in person for the first time but it was also her birthday.

I also made her a card to match - using the same designer papers and my Tim Holtz tattered floral die for the large flower. I didn't quite manage to use the full recipe on the card - but I did get to use another of my CC stamps!

Simply Betty Stamps Emos Go Back to School - Preview Day 1

I just love working with the Emo kids from Simply Betty Stamps - having teens in my house makes me realise how few images there are that they would like - and they LOVE these guys! Well Betty is about to release a new range of Emo Kids - it's back to school time in America so the Emo kids are heading back too! We have a couple of preview days and then we'll be running a release day blog hop on Sunday 15th, September - and knowing Betty she'll have specials and prizes on offer during the hop too!

I know they'll be more previews for you over at the SBS Blog in the meantime - check them out HERE.

For my card I've used the adorable Miller - who is looking a little confused on his first day of school - new classes and new rules to figure out. The DP I used is by October Afternoon - Report Card - perfect for this theme LOL. I'm hoping some of you get my weird sense of humour - my poor daughter just didn't GET the sentiment - but I thought it was a bit if a giggle - LOL - maybe it's becausewe call gym class PE here (Physical Education)??!?!?!?! I added my "locker key" skull charm to the card with a paper clip to keep with the theme.

I'll be back tomorrow with another preview.

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #15 - Favourite Burton Film

This week my card for The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge is a little less dark than my previous ones. It's your turn to make this challenge whatever you want, take a scene from your favorite Burton film and recreate it on your project. We are also being sponsored this week by Tickled Pink Stamps and the gorgeous Kellie is offering the winner 2 rubber stamps - 80s Sookie and 50s Lilith. The DT have had soo much fun working with these gals this week - be sure to stop by the blog and see what other Burton movies the Lolita's have become a part of.

I've used Sookie to help me recreate the famously beautiful scene from Edward Scissorhands where Edward makes an ice-sculpture as Kim dances in the snow. This was one of the first Tim Burton movies I ever saw and it's story has soo many facets to explore. I used parts of the last lines from the movie for my sentiment - the actual lines are - "Before he came down here, it never snowed. And afterwards, it did. If he weren't up there now, I don't think it would be snowing. Sometimes you can still catch me dancing in it." It just seemed perfect for this card.

Hope you decide to come along and play too!

An Apology Card From Just INKlined

Hahaha - as soon as I saw the faces on these guys I just KNEW I had to make an apology card - don't the boys look like they've been caught out BIG TIME - I wonder what they did to make mum look soo unamused - LOL. These are actually 2 separate images from Just INKlined - the Girafferty boys (father and son) are on the left and can be found in the store HERE and Girafferty Mum is on the right - she can be found HERE.

I found this DP in my stash and it seemed to be a great fit wtih these guys. It looks like dad may have brought mum a few flowers to help with the apology - but I don't think it worked - yet! The sentiment was computer generated. The yellow cord was tied around a bunch of yellow roses my hubby bought home for me one night - and no - it wasn't part of an apology - LOL.

Tickled Pink Stamps Monthly Challenge #4

It's time for our next monthly challenge from Tickled Pink Stamps Monthly Challenges. Kellie has come up with a FABULOUS sketch this week - I hope you can see it in my easel card - or at least in part of my easel card - LOL. Yup the sketch is all done within the circle on the top of my card. And I've just realised the colours I've used are similar to those in the sketch - it was totally unplanned and NOT part of the challenge - LOL

Please note you can now use any stamp from any company but to be in with a chance to win the prize you have to use a stamp from a company that the Tickled Pink Stamps Store sells - This month's prize is a $50 TPS voucher. For the first 3 challenges I stuck to TPS's very own fabulous line of stamps - the Lil Lolitas - but this month I branched out and used one of Amy's gorgeous mermaids from Sweet November. Kellie still has some of these beauties instore at Tickled Pink Stamps.
My DP is from one of my Basic Grey paper pads - and the sentiment was from a set by CC Designs - a little bit of "fin" with words - hahahaha.

Don't forget to pop over and check out the rest of the amazing inspiration from the DT HERE using this sketch - it always amazes me how one simple sketch can be interpreted in soo many fabulous ways!

Spesch Stamps New Releases

It's release day over at Spesch Designer Stamps and there are 4 new images available now. I've used 2 of them here.

This cutie is called "Birdy in Love" and I came up with a little sentiment which suited it perfectly - LOL. I used my MS corner punch to add some details to the DP and CS - it's quite a simple layout but the punched details add a great framing effect.

And this adorable gal is called "Princess with Cake". Don't you just love that cute little puppy hoping she'll share the cake - or drop it - LOL. I used my sizzix flourish die to add some swirls to the frame. The DP is from 7 Gypsies. I've added some crystal effects to the rubies in her crown and the cherry on top of the cake.  All the golden parts of her dress have been coated with my clear spica pen for added princess glam!

Check out what the rest of the DT have done with these gorgeous images, and the other 2 new releases - at the Spesch Stamps blog.

A Quick Apology

Hi Guys - I just wanted to apologise for being so slack lately with my blog commenting! I'm suffering some tendonitis in my right elbow and typing on the computer is making it worse so I'm trying to keep it to a minimum at the moment!

xXx

Just INKlined meets Copic Oz

Copic Oz are running their very first challenge - and it's to colour FLOWERS! As soon I saw these beautiful poppies by Just INKlined I knew they would be perfect for the challenge. They are such majestic flowers that I decided they didn't need to much embellishment - a little lace, some ribbon and some fabulous textured CS from Cristina Re.

Since this is a Copic challenge I thought I better list my copic colours - somthing I know I should do regularly but I'm such a messy colourer - pens end up all over the place and I just shove them back in to tidy up before I remember to list the colours! And I nearly did it with this one too - oops!

Here they are if you're interested - C3, YG01, YG05, YG63, G85, G99, R05, R29 and R59

If you're looking for this gorgeous digi for yourself you can find it HERE - it's called Oriental Poppies. And Just INKlined currently have another limited time freebie you can find on the blog HERE. You'll also find a competition running with the prize being the GDT for a month which includes free digis to play with!

EDIT - i just realised I didn't mention that the "no-tie" bow was an idea I CASED from my lovely blog buddy Andrea Lowcock - the brad holds the loop of ribbon together to form the bow - how clever is that!?!?

It's Da Boss Lady's Birthday Bash!!!!

Glitter Graphics

Today is our fabulous boss lady aka Kellie Winnell's Birthday! We've have had soooo much fun planning a suprise hop for her, and believe me when I say SUPRISE - we have such a great surprise up our sleeves for this amazingly talented, kind hearted and generous boss/friend of ours.

The Pink Ladies have joined forces with the Lil Lolita Boutique gals for this fun birthday hop day! If you get lost along the way I have the complete hop list at the bottom of the post!

Now to explain the SURPRISE!!!

A few weeks ago I hatched a dasterdly plan and tracked down the totally awesome Christina, the designer of our gorgeous Lil Lolitas. On the sly I asked her if she would design an image for us of Kellie as a Lil Lolita - a KELLITA! Once Christina got back to me saying she would love to I let Kristy in on the secret and asked if she would like to help, of course Princess said yes! So together we've been plotting behind Kellie's back - sending photos and ideas of what "Kellita" should look like....... So lets begin the hop so you can see our fabulous Kellita Birthday cards and join us in wishing Kellie...

A very happy and totally tickled pink birthday!

As instigator of this dastardly hijacking of Kellie's designer I get the honour of starting the hop!

Soooooooo - meet Kellita!

I'm not going to go into too much detail about my card - I just wanted to say the DP is from the fabulous Kaisercraft Utopia paper pad - a birthday present a special person sent to me and was the perfect choice for using for this wonderful lady! Kellie loves her tassles too - so I snuck a tiny one in here for her!

Now of course what is a hop without prizes??? 2 lucky commenters will get the chance to win this SPECIAL EDITION KELLITA!!! All you have to do is comment on each card. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, 11th August on the Tickled Pink Blog.

Your next stop on the hop is the Amazing Jane's blog - hope you have enjoy it - we've had a BLAST putting this together!

{Please note Kellita is a limited edition image and is not for sale at this stage}

Debbie {ME} - I haven't linked me 'cause you're already here - LOL
Kristy {Princess} - Last stop on the hop and saving the BEST.......friend for last LOL hahahah you thought I was going to say just BEST hehehe.

Time for a Makeover

Stop looking - I don't mean my blog and I can only dream of a makeover for myself - LOL. This makeover has to do with a little treasure I found at my local Op Shop. Here it is in it the state I found it....as you can see a real bargain!

And here it is after a bit if TLC and the addition of a fabulous image by Mo Manning.

As soon as I saw this frame I knew this image would be perfect for it - it's called Mummu's Nissu and can be found in the store HERE. Isn't she just perfect for this setting?!?! And the good thing about digis - you can size to fit your project!

As any crafter can tell you embellishing often ends up where it's needed not only where it looks good. My hubby was wonderful enough to take the rotten old hinges off the window, sand it to fit snugly and then buy me some new hinges. But when I was attaching them on the left I didn't realise the new screws were longer than the old ones and they went right through the window AND the picture in the frame!!! Grr - never mind - a little bit of embellishment fixed up the unsightly mess but has made the windows have to stay permanently open! But I hate to say this - I prefer it this way - LOL.

It was  fun project to do - it's always nice to try something different! Now to hunt out my next bargain at the Op Shop - LOL.

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #14 - A Victorian Burton Babe

This week at The Burtonesque Dolls we are asking you to showcase one of the female characters from a Burton Movie. We are being sponsored this week by Simply Betty Stamps and the new range of Victorian Beauties. These fabulous images aren't being released until Friday, August 6th when the SBS and TBD DT's are coming together for a blog hop - we can't wait! In the meantime you get to have a sneak peek at these beauties with this challenge.

I've used the gorgeous Darcy here. I thought she reminded me a lot of Sweeney Todd's fair daughter Johanna who is brought up by Todd's arch enemy. She yearns for freedom which I've symbolised with the gate and key!

The gate was cut using my craft robo while the black cat is a laser die cut from Scrapmatts. The mesh ribbon and gold key charm are from Tickled Pink Stamps. I also used 2 new toys that I got for my birthday - my Tim Holtz brick wall embossing folder and my MFT Die-Namics rolled flower die. The DP is from the Kaisercraft Le Chateau paper pad - I've been using this one a lot lately - I LOVE browns with blues!

Don't forget to pop over the The Dollhouse and check out what the rest of the dolls have come up with to inspire you.

Just INKlined's Very First DT Blog Hop

Welcome to Just INKlined's very first DT blog hop. This month's blog hop is hosted by the amazing Jak Heath, and she's asking us to get dotty - LOL. Yup the theme is DOTS, large or small - this could be dotty ribbon, design paper, diecuts, embossing, pearls or gems, brads or any other dotted variations.

You should have arrived here from the lovely Lydia's blog. The complete hop list is below should you get lost!

Obviously I've gone for dotty DP - it's a retired pattern from Stampin' Up. My image is Aubery Bumblethorpe and can be found in store HERE. When I first saw Aubery I thought of Jolly Saint Nick - with his big belly for laughing and his beautiful snowy white beard he just needs his red suit on and he'd be set for Christmas - LOL. But here he is with his Black Sabbath t-shirt and workpants on so he must be giving the sleigh it's annual service so it runs smoothly on Christmas Eve - right?!?!?!?! Oh OK - it may be a stretch but it IS a fun idea isn't it and would be a great card for a bloke who doesn't like Christmas frills. I've given his glasses thick lenses with my crystal effects and the wrench has some Christmas sparkle on courtesy of my silver spica pen. the sentiment is computer generated.

Now what's an inaugural hop without a prize?!?! Each DT member on the hop will randomly select one person who comments on their blog to receive the digi image that they've used for the blog hop, no alternatives to the image will be offered - so I'll be arranging for Aubery to go to some lucky person!

Since I'm the last stop on the hop you need to make sure you haven't missed anyone so head back to Jak's blog.

Hop Order - Jak, Toni, Mina, Karen, Lydia and ME - last but not least - LOL

Hope you've enjoyed the hop and I'll be announcing the winner of the Aubery image soon!

Magnolia Down Under #57 - It's Birthday Time

Da Boss Lady has her birthday coming up so when she was setting the challenges she decided to use that as inspiration for this week's theme at Magnolia Down Under Challenges. We all need a birthday card or 2 in our stash for those last minute birthdays - so why not join in and get one done! Mine is actually not going in my stash - I've actually made it for someone special - can't tell you who 'cause she may guess!!!

This little Tilda is actually from last year's Halloween collection - but I've chopped off her broom - I don't think she should be cleaning for her birthday - LOL. I've also used the fabulous Magnolia cake slice - everyone needs cake on their birthday!!! I had intended on adding some real taper candles to the cake - but when I thought about it I wondered how they would travel in the post! So I had to improvise.....and after much fossicking in my "disaster zone" I had a brain wave! I was going to stamp out candles and cut them up - too small and I didn't have any - strips of paper - boring - so how about my thin white ric rac! It added texture AND interest! The "flames" were cut using one of my CB alphas - they are actually the apostrophe's - LOL. I glittered up the flames for some birthday sparkle too!

Aaagh - have just realised I forgot to trim out the CS over her shoulder - how frustrating!!! The soft blooms from Websters are FABULOUS - it's the first time I've used them and they add soo much interest but will squish down for posting - AWESOME! The DP is fascinating too - it's from my Kaisercraft Le Chateau paper pad but has a wonderful texture - the little dots are all velvety - too cool!

Now don't forget to pop over and see what the rest of the DT have come up with over at MDUC - they'll be sure to inspire you!

Happy Birthday to ALL the August babies out there!!!
