A Belated 21st and Some News

This post is running about 2 weeks late because I just didn't get a chance to get this card to the birthday girl for her birthday on 13th February and I wanted to give it to her before she saw it on my blog or on FB. I feel terrible about it but I hope she forgives me! At least the glue and stickles will be well and truly dry ;)

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY NICOLE

For Nicole's card I used the gorgeous Woman with Gardenia and Pearls from Aurora Wings - perfect for a young woman with all the fun and whimsy these images have - I just LOVE them!

I also wanted to share some news. My Facebook friends and those who subscribe to the Aurora Wings Facebook page would already know but I wanted to announce it here too.....I was asked to be on the Design Team for the NEW Aurora Wings Challenges. I can't tell you how excited I was about it - not only do I get to play with these images but I'm also working with some amazingly gorgeous and talented crafters :)

For those interested there is a prize on offer for followers of the new challenge blog as well a freebie and a savings code - check it out on the OFFERS page. Also each of the DT has given our gorgeous new Boss Lady Mitzi and interview - you can find mine here .

Mitzi often has fabulous specials for her images for her Facebook followers - so come along and join in the fun HERE.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #230

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges our theme is....

Butterflies

I've used one of the winged Tildas but have also added some die-cut butterflies around the edge of my easel card.

Remember to pop on over to our BLOG to check out the rest of our DT inspiration and don't forget we have started Facebook Challenges too - you can find us HERE.

Apologies for being a tad quiet here on my blog lately. I have been working at the Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo here in Melbourne as well as completing a magazine commission. But I have managed to get some colouring done as well and hope to bring you some more eye candy soon.....

Let's Play Tic Tac Toe

This week in La-La Land we are creating using the tic-tac-toe board to the left. I tend to try for full houses when I come across these and with a little bit of creativity I've managed to do it here. The creativity involves getting approval to classify using the BG (blue/green) range of copic colours as covering both the blue and the green squares ;)
The steampunk frame is a chipboard piece from an Aussie company called Scrapmatts and it ties in really nicely with the La-La Land cog die cuts and the Tim Holtz metal cogs. A bit of twine through the paper backed clear button on top of a cream lace bow and surrounded by flowers and there you have it - a full house...

For A Friend in La-La Land

This week in La-La Land we are creating something "For a Friend". One of the things I love to do with friends is catch up over a cuppa so I thought this Marci was the perfect choice.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #229

This fortnight's challenge over at Magnolia Down Under is....

HEARTS & FLOWERS

I found this rattan heart in my local Reject Shop and this cute frame came from a local Op Shop (Thrift Store). I removed the back from the frame and used it to mark the space needed on the heart and then I used some of my hubby's tin snips to remove a section leaving a depression about 2cm deep. I coloured up a Mini World Tilda and glued her to the base of the depression before gluing the front of the frame in too. I wish I could capture how good this looks with Tilda inset but I just couldn't get the 3D look in a 2D photo. Tilda's colours were based on those on the frame. A few leaves and flowers and a big net bow and I was done. I was sorely tempted to add more but I'm glad I didn't - this is just more ME....

Don't forget to pop over to our BLOG and check out the rest of the fabulous DT inspiration and remember you have 2 weeks to enter.

With Love from La-La Land

Hi everyone, this week's theme over at La-La Land Crafts is "With Love". I decided to create a boy's card for a change as I love this cute little Luka with his bunch of flowers. The patterned paper is one of La-La Land's digi papers and after I uploaded it into a word document for printing I overlaid a digi sentiment over the top. I had previously "cleared" the white space from the letters so the pattern of the paper could show though. I left the white border though and love the look I ended up with. For those interested in HOW I cleared the white space I have done a tutorial HERE for you.

Hearts and Lace in La-La Land

This week in La-La Land we are using Hearts and Lace. I had so much fun making the last "card in a box" that I thought I'd make another one. I just love the fun scenes you can create, and the depth you can achieve with these. And how great that they fold flat easily for posting.
For those interested THIS is the tutorial I followed to make my very first "card in a box" but my 2 recent ones have been adapted width wise to accommodate the larger sized images. I reckon they still look OK a bit wider AND I had more room to play - win win :)

More Fun With Aurora Wings

I have been having so much FUN colouring up these fantasy art digis from Aurora Stamps - it's been FABULOUS to have found time to play with some new images and I love the challenge these have given me too.

This beauty is called Crimson Wings and you can see the original coloured version HERE. I was so glad I coloured mine up first before seeing the original - WOW - but I am also glad I went for a different colour palette and made her my own. I wanted to capture the true beauty of the moth as I feel they are often neglected next to their butterfly cousins.

I was trying to decide whether or not to add details to her eyes - but decided to leave them as is as she looks like she's in a trance which I love - it adds to the ethereal beauty of the scene - and I probably would have stuffed up the eyes if I tried  anyway - LOL.
