Baby Isla's Card

Two weeks ago today the daughter of one of my besties gave birth to a beautiful baby girl - little Miss Isla Grace. I was lucky enough to go and meet her and get a cuddle last week - she's absolutely adorable.

To celebrate her arrival I used one of my favourite baby images - from Saturated Canary - and added her to a onesie shaped card and wording cut on my Silhouette - it was a real labour of love.

New Release from Simply Betty Stamps - Bella

Check out this fun image from Simply Betty Stamps - this is Bella. There are 2 other new hipster girls {as in they are more bootylicious} in the range too - check them out HERE.

I turned her into a shaker card by cutting a frame around her. Some Winter branches and snowflakes add a textural element. A fairly simple card but still was a lot of fun to create.

Hubby's Golfer Card

Oops I forgot to post this last year - my hubby's birthday card. He enjoys playing golf regularly so I went hunting for a golfing image to use and found this one from Dr.Digi, this is Hole in One Hal. He was the perfect image to use for this year's card as hubby actually shot his very first hole in one earlier in the year. I paper pieced his clothes and added some shading using my copics. A little pearl is acting as his golfball, though I did have to explain that the the golfer in my family LOL.

Puppy Love

When I saw Tiddly Inks' new image Wryn Puppy Love I just couldn't help it - my heart just melted a little. But as I kept looking at it I realised the linework for the beagle puppy was fairly similar to my King Charles Cavalier Spaniel's outlines. Soooo, I had this crazy thought..maybe, just maybe...if I used the 'no lines colouring' technique I could disguise the beagle features with more cavvie ones...the colour tones and placement of facial markings, making the nose appear more 'squished', plus fluffy ears and tail. Even with my copics getting sticky while working on her ears I'm happy with the result.

Here's the original artwork...

Check out this fun new monster from Simply Betty Stamp - this is Georgie. There are 2 other new monsters in the range too - check them out HERE.

I've used copics and copic blender to colour the background in before colouring him up, giving him a bit of a furry texture. His yellow teeth makes me think he needs to seethe dentist a little more often though LOL. Even so, I think he's adorable and would give him a hug anytime...

Aurora Wings Challenge #63

It's time for another challenge from Aurora Wings and this time it's a favourite of mine because I like to try different techniques or ideas out. It's time for....

Image may contain: text

I've used the gorgeous Fins & Pearls image and you can find her and more in the Aurora Wings Online Store or Etsy Store. I used waterslide paper {as per this tutorial} to pop her onto a glass platter. I've done this technique in the past but always on white china. This time I chose a glass platter with a white swirl pattern - I love how it reminds me of the movement of water - so perfect with this image. The technique leaves the image translucent and I really like how she looks so ethereal on the platter.

PLEASE NOTE - Because of the technique involved I checked with Mitzi to make sure it didn't go against her TOU {Terms of Use} to do this. Luckily since it was for personal use, not commercial, it was fine. But be sure to check with any artist you try this with as not all TOU's are the same.

PLEASE RESPECT OUR DIGI ARTISTS

I also used this technique and Mitzi's Reindeer Sprite to create a gift plate to pop some handmade fudge on for Christmas, you can see the difference a white plate makes ...

{apologies for the photo quality!}

NOTE - these plates can be hand washed :)

Don't forget to check out the rest of the AMAZING DT inspiration on our BLOGWe also have a very active Facebook Fan Group with additional contests, challenges and inspiration.  We hope to see you there.

Simply Betty Stamps Progressive Challenge - December

It's time for the last instalment of the Simply Betty Stamps' 2017 Progressive Challenge. This month we were given the gorgeous 'Winter Fairy' to use. And our challenge was...

Glitter/Shimmer it up!
1. Make it sparkly and shine! Use glitter or shimmer powders your choice or both the possibilities are endless!!
2. You must use at least ONE pattern paper.
3. You must use Snowflakes in your projects!
4. All must be projects not just the colored image.
5. You must upload to the October Progressive Challenge album by the deadline.

I have used lots of glitter,on the edges of the layers and on her wings and headpiece. I also coloured her dress to give the illusion of sparkle before dotting some Stickles over for real sparkle. And of course there are some rhinestones on the snowflake banner. This looks gorgeous under lights.
