Something Just For Fun

Over the past few months I have seen some gorgeous new images pop up but I never seemed to find the time to play with them. I LOVE working on DT projects but until recently they have taken up ALL of my crafting time. I know many of you can relate to the struggles of juggling craft with family. But having cut back on my DT commitments recently I'm finding a little bit of time to spread my wings.

This image is from Alicia Alva and I knew I HAD to have her as soon as she was released about a week ago - isn't she FABULOUS!!!! So many fun details so I kept the colour palette simple to highlight them.

Chipboard wings are from Make it Crafty and the chipboard sentiment is from Scrapmatts - both were simply coloured using a black sharpie.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #185

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we have a colour challenge for you - Pink and Lime. My first thought was "green = leaves" and "pink = Tilda" so I merged my Tilda onto a digi garden scene from Make it Crafty. I don't often merge rubber stamps with a digis - it is a bit fiddly but worth the effort.

This combo has been a lot of fun to work with and the rest of my MDUC teamies have come up with some GORGEOUS takes on it - although my card may be the only one requiring sunglasses - LOL. You can check out the rest of the inspiration on our BLOG.

About a Boy in La La Land

This week in La La Land it's All About The Boys! Most of us tend to create girl's cards because we love to embellish with flowers and ribbon but the LLLC team have come up with some fabulous boy's cards to inspire you - check them out on our BLOG

It's been horribly hot here in Melbourne over the past week so I was daydreaming about spending some time at the beach - and lucky Luka got to live my dream - LOL. The LLLC dies are fabulous to use for embellishing and creating scenes.

Remember La La Land Crafts also have a Facebook Page HERE and La La Lands Facebook Group HERE. We love seeing your amazing creations using La La Land Stamps and Dies too.

Mo's Dream Team Blog Hop

This month the theme for our Dream Team Blog Hop is BABIES (fairy or normal) and is brought to you by the fabulous Debby Yates and it's at Debby's Blog that all the fun begins.

I knew I wanted to use one of Mo's 3 Baby Fairies but just couldn't decide which one - so I popped 2 of them together - I tried to squeeze in the 3rd one but it just wasn't working for me - this time!!!! Mo's fairies have always been favourites of mine and it's always soo much fun to colour them up and create with them.

Your next stop on the hop is the always Marvellous Mina's Blog.

Love is all Around in La La Land

This week in La La Land we are celebrating Love - a popular theme amongst cardmakers at this time of year. I struggle with Valentine's Day though as I lost my father on February 14th - so I thought I could celebrate love in a different way - a wedding card! I had a lot of fun with this using 5 different La La Land dies to create my alter. A simple embossed white background finishes it all off.

Don't forget to pop over to our BLOG where you can check out inspiration from my amazing teamies and remember La La Land Crafts also have a Facebook Page HERE and La La Lands Facebook Group HERE. We love seeing your amazing creations using La La Land Stamps and Dies too.

It's Time for Some Sweet Treats in La La Land

This week in La La Land we are creating to the theme of "Sweet Treats". Now I love to cook and as a result am always collecting recipes to try out so thought a sweet recipe box to hold all my sweet treat recipes would be the perfect answer to this challenge. I cut the box and index inserts out on my Cameo using a pattern from the Silhouette store.

Mo's Retriever Puppy

When I saw that Mo Manning had drawn a Retriever Puppy I knew I had to colour him up. Both my mum and sister have had retrievers and I have some fond memories of them. I remember when we were living in Singapore and came home for Christmas - we stayed at my mums and my kids LOVED her 2 dogs. But one night my then 3yo son got up in the night to come to find us - but instead got 2 wet noses checking HIM out and making sure he was OK. Poor Toby got such a fright and let out the BIGGEST scream - waking the whole house up and scaring the dogs witless - LOL.

Retrievers are such gentle and sweet dogs - but they certainly have a mischievous side to them too - and it was fun to add in some of Mo's Doggone Sweet Elements  (which include the sentiment and 5 puppy toys). What new puppy owner has NOT been presented with a chewed up shoe, or sock - LOL.

The chipboard leaves are from Make it Crafty.

A Birthday Card for a Special Sheila

I recently got asked of I would like to participate in a special blog post to celebrate a special lady's birthday.  Sandie Dunne is one of the loveliest ladies around and I'm blessed to have been on two DTs with her until recently. We have lots of laughs behind the scenes and most recently were having all sorts of fun "chatting" using Aussie slang as we prepared for an Australia Day blog hop. Being an Aussie gal myself of course I rocked the chatter, but Miss Irish did a pretty darn good job too - LOL.

I just HAD to use an Aussie image to wish Sandie a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY from her friend Downunder!

If you want to check out Sandie's special post it's over on the Yumi & Fumi handmade Craft Blog.

Make It Crafty Friends

Sadly this is my final post as a member of the Make it Crafty DT - but where one door shuts another one opens they say - and on a positive maybe I can find some time to get back to my sewing or explore some new crafty spaces now....

This week the Make it Crafty team are creating to the theme of "Friends"- and there is an optional colour challenge of Brown Hair. I decided to create a Girls Day Out in the City for a bit of fun using a MiC background and some of the 60's girls. After colouring the girls up I decided they blended into the background too much so I added a shadow all around the to define them and make them pop.

I found the perfect DP in my Tim Holtz paper pad - the car licence plates are so indicative of a busy city street. The heart embellishment is a chipboard piece covered in black UTEE with fantasy film on the top FYI.

Check out what else my fabulous MiC teamies are creating to inspire you on our BLOG - where you'll also find some fabulous tutorials.

We're Framing It in La La Land

This week in La La Land we were asked to "Frame It". I decided to step out of the box a little and frame Pirate Luka using a "porthole". I then added Mermaid Marci on the outside looking in. I thought it was a little reminiscent of The Little Mermaid.

To get the rusted texture on the outside of the porthole I used some Ferro texture paste - I love this stuff because it has that lovely metallic appearance. Some black pearls create the "rivets".
