Puppy Love

When I saw Tiddly Inks' new image Wryn Puppy Love I just couldn't help it - my heart just melted a little. But as I kept looking at it I realised the linework for the beagle puppy was fairly similar to my King Charles Cavalier Spaniel's outlines. Soooo, I had this crazy thought..maybe, just maybe...if I used the 'no lines colouring' technique I could disguise the beagle features with more cavvie ones...the colour tones and placement of facial markings, making the nose appear more 'squished', plus fluffy ears and tail. Even with my copics getting sticky while working on her ears I'm happy with the result.

Spreading a Little Bit of Love from Tiddly Inks

Just a couple of days ago Christy Croll from Tiddly Inks Stamps offered this gorgeous little freebie on the TI Facebook Page, you can also get it instore HERE, it's called "Be Cool and Love Each Other Penguins". The idea behind it is to spread a little love in these troubling times - a sentiment I know we all wish would happen.

I printed them out onto some gorgeous digi paper - sadly this line has been retired with the closure of the Bearly Mine store but I just adore using the gorgeous designs. I also loved the different colours in the snowflakes and pulled them out to colour up the different penguins - something that helps to symbolise my belief of love conquering diversity, be it the colour of your skin, religion or political views.

Today is a Sad Day

Today I'll be attending the funeral service of a fine young man who was lost to us way too early. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. It's never an easy thing to make a card for these occasions - and I just hope this brings a tiny bit of comfort to his mother, my friend.

Later in the week my thoughts will be with my extended family as my DH's sweet aunt is laid to rest. Unfortunately this funeral is on the other side of the world so we can't attend - but our hearts and thoughts will be with everyone there on that sad day.

 For my card I've used 2 images from each of the companies from the release - one each on the front and one each on the inside.  I came up with a gatefold card to celebrate a new home - and what a home - LOL.

Make it Colourful - Blues

This week we have a relatively easy challenge to play along with at Make it Colourful - a fabulous challenge that's all about colouring! This week we want to see blue - and lots of it - in your creations. Our sponsor this week is another of my favourites - Tiddly Inks.

The idea for my image came when I sat and watched the movie Notting Hill one night - Hugh Grant's character lives in a house with a blue door - perfect - Tiddly Inks had the perfect image. And then it's revealed Hugh Grant's character was nicknamed "Floppy" at school - because of his floppy hair!!! So how perfect are these 2 images for this blue challenge based on Notting Hill - LOL. What do you get when Two Companies Collide? One fun fun fun blog hop! Christy of Tiddly Inks and Betty from Simply Betty Stamps are big Halloween fans so naturally they had to put together a fun Trick or Treat Blog Hop for you all! Here are the details and a fun badge for you to display!

Theme: Trick or Treating with Tiddly Inks and Simply Betty Stamps

Now for my card I've used the gorgeous Tiddly Inks image called Gothic Lady - available HERE. My background DP is also from Tiddly Inks - and was printed onto Kraft cardstock. This image is part of the Love Hurts set that you can find HERE. I found the scroll on the internet and popped my own sentiment onto it before printing it out - it's actually a line from an episode of One Tree Hill - but I think it works better here - LOL. The spider was cut using my craft robo. Both the picture frame and the spider are coated with black glitter. And as the red-back spider is one of Australia's poisonous arachnids I added a sliver of red CS onto the spiders back to amp up the creepy factor! A red satin ribbon and some drippy goo punched CS finish off the embellishments.

You can't see it in the picture but I've used my clear spica pen on her tears.

A Card For Elise

One of our fellow bloggers has been brave enough to share with us the fact that she has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Elise from Paper Love Affair wanted to raise awareness of the disease and make sure ALL women - young and old - regularly check for lumps. It is such a brave thing to open up your life like this but she may just save someone by doing so! Elise is a young mum with a 4yo son and she has a long road ahead and I know soo many people are thinking of her. You can read her story HERE.

One of my blogging friends - the sweet and talented Cheryl from My Card Making Heaven - is holding a card drive for Elise - and the lovely and generous Bec from Bizzy Bec's is offering a little something to one person who joins in - you can check out the candy and all the rules on Cheryl's blog - it's at the top until November 16th.

I don't know Elise either - but I've had 4 friends who have been touched by this disease. I have sat through chemo session with one and supported the others in any way I can! So hopefully we can shower Elise with cards and smiles and SUPPORT!

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #18 - School of Ghouls

This week over at The Burtonesque Dolls we are celebrating back to school for our American friends - but in true Burtonesque style it's back to the School of Ghouls for us - LOL. We have our wonderful sponsor Simply Betty Stamps on board this week too.

For my card I've used School Emo Lola from SBS along with a fabulous blackboard from Tiddly Inks. To embellish I used my Magnolia Doo Hickey lace flower die, a sentiment from Tickled Pink Stamps and a skullie available from SBS and made by the wonderful Creepy Glowbug. My DP is from 7 Gypsies.

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #16 - Willy Wonka

This week at The Burtonesque Dolls we have a fabulous challenge - and one close to my heart - CHOCOLATE - LOL. The challenge is Willy Wonka! We're asking you to create a new candy box, candy bag, chocolate bar, any fun and funky new candy you would find in Willy Wonka's factory. You can even create a fun and funky candy Wrapper! The possibilities are endless here.

Now if you check out MY project you'll realise I made a bit of a boo boo. I read the brief AFTER I had finished my card : (  How could I be sooo silly and make a card when I could have done a CHOCOLATE BOX - LOL?!?!?! My only excuse is that I've been madly trying to get ahead with my DT projects as I'm heading away for a couple of weeks. Ah well - at least I made the faux chocolate bars ON the card!

I've used a fabulous Tiddly Inks image for Willy Wonka. The chocolate bar wrappers were made from a photo I found on the internet - I resized it to the size I wanted and made some chocolate to pop inside it.

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #8 - Toe Tags!

Recently I found this tag album in the bargain bin at my local Scrapbook shop - and of course who can resist a bargain - it would come in handy one day - LOL. Well today is the day! This week at The Burtonesque Dolls we're asking you to create a "Toe Tag" based on the movie Beetlejuice. Think Tim Holtz styled tags - tags on your layout - tag shaped cards - tag albums etc. You can get some FABULOUS inspiration from the DT gals at TBD blog HERE.

I've used this Tiddly Inks bridal couple to represent the wedding between Beetlejuice and Lydia - and created a quirky little wedding album front.

The charm, mesh ribbon, heart doily and rhinestone flourish all came from Tickled Pink Stamps. The patterned acetate scrap was from Delicious Papercrafting.

A Royal Birthday Blog Hop

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #5 - Sleepy Hollow

Boy oh boy have the Dolls had a blast with this one - creepy forest scenes and fabulous images from this week's sponsor - Tiddly Inks. I also found some fabulous digital DPs last week from one of our TBD entrants - they are from the Gothic Bruise set by Crafty Chaos Designs. I've used the fabulous "dogs R fun" image from Tiddly Inks "Gothic Cute" range - because personally I wouldn't go into a creepy forest without at least one big mutt to keep me company - LOL. I've emphasised this with my computer generated sentiment -  has The Teddy Bear's Picnic song ever had such creepy overtones - LOL.

The trees were cut out using my craft robo - I found a fabulous clipart tree silhouette but it's branches were too thin to cut out. The good thing was I could thicken up the branches in PaintNET and then trace the new outlines before using my robo to cut in a couple of different sizes. I also made it wider and shorter than the original - it looked creepier that way! Some black stickles, a raffia bow and crescent moon charm added the final touches.
