Flags or Banners in La-La Land

This week in La-La Land we are using Flags and Banners. I had planned on this card being white on white with just the image having some colour but like all my cards - it kind of evolved along the way. I have to admit I'm kinda glad it did because I'm really happy with how it turned out - from the scrunched up and flattened out textured base to the little gold pearls. It's really NICE when you've finished a project and can say "I like that!!!"- it doesn't always happen - LOL.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #223

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we are putting a little Christmas fun into our week with a Jingle Bell Challenge. I bought this little wooden tree at an Op Shop (Thrift Shop) last year for a couple of dollars. I got my hubby to trim the trunk down a little and replaced the bent white bells with tinkly gold ones. I also frantage'd the metal snowflake - and then I started to play :)
I covered the tree and base in some Magnolia DP and inked the edges before attaching some cotton lace around the outside. Some lasercut chipboard, ribbon, coloured images, flowers and dies cuts were glued on to finish it off.
Here's a close up of the frantage'd star - I used the Shabby White embossing powder on it.
I added some snowtex to the base and painted some white onto the fence for snow drifts - although I felt a little sad to leave poor Tilda sitting their in her sox and short sleeves - LOL.

Don't Forget to check out what the rest of my teamies have done with this fun challenge ove at the MDUC BLOG.

Some Punked Up Fun For a Traditional Christmas

When I saw the fun new release of Christmas images from Make it Crafty I knew I wanted to have a play - and I knew I wanted it to be a little left of traditional - it's a whole lot more fun that way - LOL. I've used a traditional backdrop for my 2 emo gals in traditional colours - but I just couldn't colour the girls up any other way than in funky colours! I hope you think I managed to pull off a happy mix of the 2. I think keeping the door in cool grey tones and keeping all the bows in the same reds helps to mesh the two together.

About a Boy in La-La Land

This week in La-La Land we are putting the spotlight on Luka. Many people believe boy's cards are difficult - me included - so we're hoping to give you some ideas. With my recent travels I am a tad behind in creating my Christmas cards so it seemed like the perfect time to use one of the newer Luka Christmas images. Some Christmas paper, distressing and simple embellishments are all that's needed to finish him off.

Don't forget to pop over to our BLOG where you can check out inspiration from my amazing teamies and remember La La Land Crafts also have a Facebook Page HERE and La La Lands Facebook Group HERE. We love seeing your amazing creations using La La Land Stamps and Dies too.

La-La Land Crafts Retreat

Apologies for being a little absent lately - I recently spent a month in Europe on a family holiday and then was home for only 2 weeks before I headed off to San Francisco to teach at the very first La-La Land Crafts Retreat. I was honoured to have been asked and had a blast with the LLLC Bosses Irina and Eric and my fellow team-mates Sandie Dunne and Suzanne Kohler.

I just wanted to share a little of what went on and the projects I created for the retreat. We certainly kept the ladies busy with classes and workshops.

This first project was a little waterfall album I created - I hope the video to my left gives you an idea of what it looked like on the inside - it seems to be running a little fast. Oh woe is me with technology - LOL

I also created this Christmas Banner using lots of the fabulous dies from La-La Land and I loved seeing how some of the ladies twisted the design to make it their own.

We also had an amazing location for our retreat - right on the ocean - this was the view from my room.

And then I designed a couple of quick projects using dies only - these were a lot of fun to play with and I have to thank my darling husband for weeding out all the little pieces from all the die-cuts I did for the 120 kits I took with me - it was also much appreciated by the ladies.

And for our "Steampunk" themed event Eric and Irina designed a fabulous top hat kit and stand that we had fun decorating up as samples for the retreat. The ladies had a couple of days to decorate theirs and we had a competition for the best dressed hats - they did some GORGEOUS things with these and it was a heap of fun!

And so the sun set on our first retreat - but it was such a success we are all looking forward to next year already!

Challenge #117 for Sparkle Creations

This week at Sparkle Creations we have a fun new challenge for you to play along with - create something using FELT! This gorgeous image is Laptop Lucy - a fabulous modern image I'm sure many of us can relate too - even though I would rather be sitting on a comfy chair - LOL. I love the texture felt gave this project and wanted it to share the spotlight with the image so I kept my embellishments to a minimum. With dies these days being able to cut felt the opportunities are endless  Here I've cut a rolled rose, leaf and scalloped circle in felt using dies - and hand cut a green rectangle for under my sentiment.

Don't forget to check out some more inspiration on the SCRS BLOG and then come along and join in the FUN!

Edging it in La-La Land

This week in La-La Land we are creating with Fancy Edges. When I saw this challenge my first thought was to head to my Cameo files and find an interesting shape to use - gotta LOVE that machine. The whimsical shape lent itself to the little scene I ended up putting together. A Princess Bird Marci sitting on her gilt perch. I have been asked in the past if these fancy shapes are actually cards and can stand up! YES THEY CAN!
And here's the trick! You cut 2 shapes and hinge one onto the back. I have also flattened the bottom of this one so it's not trying to stand on a point - it stabilises the front enough though so that piece can give the look the card IS precariously tottering.
