Creatalicious Challenge #3

Yay - I finally found some ME time today and disappeared into my crafting corner to play along with this month's Creatalicious Challenge. The rules are

* Use only scrap/used sheets of DP
* You can use new cardstock
* Add flowers handmade by you

Well I think I managed to fill all the criteria!! This is another Mo Manning illustration from Digital Pencil Too and this card came together pretty quickly as I already had these lovely gals coloured up ready to go - they are perfect for teenagers! The DP is from Stampin' Up and the flower is made from both sides of the same DP. The tutorial for the flower by Michele Roos is HERE. I've made this one before and I'm sure I'll be making it again - I think they are FABULOUS.

I've also "made my own" DP by stamping my SU Gratuitous Graffiti background stamp on it in the same colour ink as the CS - Pumpkin Pie. The Night of Navy CS has been "thumped" with the matching ink to add more texture. And YES - I used my distressing tool again seeing it was sitting on the desk waiting to be shown some more love - LOL

Marcia's Challenge for The Stamp Spot DT Continues!

As I told you a couple of weeks ago Marcia sent her DT some fun new products to play with and this week I've used some of the gorgeous Felt Ribbon - this is the Raspberry but it does come in other colours - check them out HERE. It went beautifully with this wonderful Basic Grey DP from the Indian Summer series. The muted tones mixed with the pink gives you a lot of scope to play with other colours - so I went with Chocolate Chip - LOL.

My image is one of the adorable gals from Inky Impressions - Angelica's Heart Socks. These images are just gorgeous and have sooo much detail in them - but once you add some colour to her eyes she seems to just come alive. I've used my nesties and cuttlebug embossing folders to create the "frame" for Angelica to sit in - she looked a little lost popped up on the felt ribbon. But I did find a home for a little felt offcut at the top of the frame - it just seemed to tie everything together. Some rhinesones and pearls were added for a little bit of bling.

The sentiment is from SU but all the rest can be found at The Stamp Spot Online Store.

The glue is probably still drying as I post this as I'm a bit behind today!!! Hope I'm better organised next week for my Stamp Spot Day!!!

What Have I Been Up Too???

I haven't had much crafting time lately as last week was my daughter's final week at High School!! Yup - she's all done bar the actual exams. At last Friday's Graduation Dinner there were plenty of tears shed as the kids farewelled their school days and some favourite teachers.

During the week we had friends over for dinner, early morning champagne breakfasts, school uniform "re-designing" for the last day, the final parade of the year 12s to school and the Graduation Dinner - what a week!!! And considering I work at a High School - the one my daughter's boyfriend attends! - I seem to have done a lot of it twice - LOL.

And then to top it off I had my family over for lunch on Sunday - a small gathering of 17!

Anyway - I thought I'd share some pics from Sarah's last day. I've always been proud of her and this last day was no exception. She left the Graduation Dinner carrying a framed certificate she was awarded - along with a cheque for $300 - for her outstanding contribution to the college. Now onto the pics...

"Muck-up" morning and breakfast with the teachers - Sarah (2nd from right, the short blonde - shhhh - don't tell her I called her short - LOL) and her beautiful "girlies" in their altered school uniforms!

Those same 4 gorgeous young ladies later in the day at their Graduation Dinner - what a difference a few hours make - LOL.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #25 - Distressing

What can I say - when the Queen of Distressing (aka Kellie) set distressing for our Magnolia Down Under Challenge this week I knew I may struggle! I LIKE things nice and neat, though don't check out my workspace - LOL. Even though I think Kellie's style is amazingly wonderful and I am in awe of it - it's just not my style - trust me I've tried. But I do actually own a distressing tool and used it on most of the edges here. I also thought buttons instead of pearls in the snowflake centres were more suited to the theme - they are just a little less polished I suppose!

I've used a Magnolia Christmas Tree and Tilda from last year's Christmas release - I really wanted to give them a chance to see some ink before my new Magnolia Christmas stamps arrive!! Between Kellie's Magnolia Down Under Store and Bizzy Bec's Store I think they have covered nearly all of the images available - and are they ever GORGEOUS!!!

Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is the lovely Gabbie over at The Soap Dish - if you are a lover of handmade soaps this HAS to be the place for you, and they make amazing gifts - Christmas is just around the corner!!! Gabbie is also a fellow papercrafter and does some beautiful work!

Talking about beautiful work - don't forget to check out the amazing creations from the rest of the MDUC team - I've seen a sneak peek of a couple - it's worth the mouse click!!!

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

Just a quick post today today to show off this cute little guy - another fabulous Mo Manning digital image! This little fella is all tucked in ready for Christmas morning - his stocking looks filled so I guess Santa has already been and read his letter, and he's obviously been a good little mouse as he seems to have got what he wished for - LOL.

My layout is a little simple - I seem to be struggling a little with my mojo - I had all sorts of things laid out to embellish and nothing seemed to work! I think I need to spend more time crafting and get my eye in again - do you hear that DH?? ;)

The good thing is Mo's images are sooo fabulous they don't need a lot - so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!!

Boys Will Be Boys

I've gone with a fairly simple card this week for my day at The Stamp Spot - it's been a little crazy in my part if the world! The senior high school students are finishing up and I both have a daughter in year 12 and I work at a High School - so "muck up" week is here big time for me - LOL.

I have decided to go back to a more innocent age - my son's! He has a number of friends turning 11 and 12 so I thought I could use this for one of them. I think Skater Ian is perfect for a boy's card - and mixed with bold colours and cuttlebug embossing he looks fabulous. I do have a confession - I cut the wheels off his skateboard by mistake - so he's now sporting ones made of buttons - hope he doesn't mind - LOL. The fabulous DP I've used is from Cosmo Cricket's The Boyfriend range and it called Driver's Ed - how perfect for this image!

I just had to use a Greeting Farm stamp this week as Marcia has just received some brand new ones instore - check them out here. And don't forget her marvellous paper sale, new embellishments and other fabulous new stamps!

Don't forget to stop in and check out what the rest of the fabulous The Stamp Spot DT have been up to too.

Excitement at Debbie P's Place

Well I've finally managed to put together a little bit of Blog Candy to celebrate my recent Blogaversary! I can't believe it's only been a little over a year since I started stamping! I started my blog fairly soon after I started stamping - you should go back and check out my first efforts - I was sooo proud of them - LOL. But we all start somewhere and I feel I'm where I need to be now.

You'll notice a couple of my embroidery sewn pieces in my blog candy - I've done some snowflakes and a couple of polar bear candy cane holders - I've popped a candy cane in one on the picture to show you but I won't be sending the candy through the mail - I'm worried it may get sticky and go all over everything!

You have to be in it to win it!!! Just leave me a comment - and please number them for me. That's all you need to do! I'm happy to post to anywhere as I love people visiting me from all over the place and have made some fabulous friends through my blog.

EDIT - You guys can give up the numbering, it just seems to be confusing everyone - I'll work it out - LOL. Thanx for trying though!!!

I'll be picking a winner next Saturday - October 24th at 4pm AEST - or thereabouts - LOL

Now I also have to apologise for my lack of posts over the past few days - and I haven't much for the next few either!! I suffered a migraine in the middle of the week and had the library workshop yesterday to prepare for - so no personal crafting has been done! Ah well!

My migraine was MUCH improved though when I heard I was one of the Creatalicious Challenges winners with my snowflake card - and I also won Tracey's UStamp Free Pass - I got all this fabulous news within a 5 minute quick stop on my laptop to check in - woohooo - thanx gals for this wonderful boost to my week!

Wishing all of you some good news...and good luck with the blog candy!

A Challenge and Pink Ribbon Day

Kellie recently set each member of her MDU Store DT a challenge - she asked each of us to use a specific image that she nominated from the gorgeous YUMMY collection - I was asked to use the gorgeous Magnolia tea cup on a card or project. You can check out what the others girls came up with for their challenge here - and trust me - it's well worth the visit for some wonderfully inspiring creations! Kellie has also set a challenge for YOU - and you have a chance to win a $10 store voucher - check it out at the same place here.

I had originally planned to use one of my Tildas or Edwins and have them sitting on the tea cup - but I decided the tea cup was my challenge and should therefore be the star of the show! I've made a little kitchen shelf and popped a couple of the Magnolia tins on the top shelf. The cups are "hanging" from the shelf on rhinestone brads - with the exception of the one that's down and ready for boiling water to be poured over the "Tilda's Special Tea" teabag - I can just imagine it would have a wonderful fruity taste and aroma. I know - I'm a sad case - I like to imagine all sorts of things - LOL.

Kellie also has a special offer for you - one that comes from the heart and is very personal to me too - I've had 3 close friends suffer from breast cancer so next week's Pink Ribbon Day is a time for me to reflect on how lucky I am to still have these 3 amazing women in my life!

One in every nine Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer by the age of 85. It could be a mother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece or friend. Whoever they are, one thing they have in common is that they will all need our help and support.

This year, Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon day is on Monday, October 26th. Pink Ribbon Day is your chance to help raise money and awareness for all Australian women affected by breast cancer.

For as much as we do to help improve survival rates and treatments, the fact is there is still so much more to be done. But by purchasing just one wristband you are helping in more ways than you could imagine.

Kellie has these wristbands listed in store HERE - they are not instore yet but they are on their way. Please take note of the code below as all postage on this item is free. Kellie is not out to make any profit from selling these and as a thank you, she is offering free postage. If you are to order a stamp it is STILL free postage. Papers, stamps anything - it’s still FREE postage if you order a Pink Ribbon Wrist Band.

**Please be sure to quote this code in check out PINK01 so you are not charged for postage

**PLEASE NOTE : This is a pre-order as they are on their way and will be posted to all that order them on their arrival asap.

Marcia's Challenge

This month the lovely Marcia has sent her DT a few fun things to play with from the The Stamp Spot store - I must admit a couple of them have me stumped - for now!!!! I didn't have too much chance to play with all the goodies this week so have opted for a safe bet - the HUGE 4" single flower paired with a sweet Inky Impressions image. I've folded the flower in half and added a round die-cut and a beautiful rhinestone brad to the flower centre. There's also some glitter framing each petal.

I've used gorgeous Eskimo Kisses DP here. I've used both sides in my card - it's the best part about double sided DPs - you know they will look FAB together and here I've just used the off cuts for the strips.

And as always I've used my nestabilities and these are on sale over at The Stamp Spot at the moment!!!

Get Well Card for a Friend

I made this card the other evening for a friend of mine who was feeling poorly. I thought this cute Greeting Farm stamp (Hope and Grace Snuggle) - I got from The Stamp Spot would fit the bill perfectly for a get well card - everyone needs a hug, even at my age! I used some Basic Grey DP and my Fiskars border punch to create a background - and I used the double sided tape and glitter trick again to give the border heaps of sparkle to help brighten up the sickie's day!

I've heard my friend loved the card and now I have a coffee date to look forward to soon - I rarely say no to a coffee date, especially when we are including dessert - LOL. I know this is bad but the diet's already out the window - hubby returned home from Brussels with a HUGE box of Belgian Chocolates - YUM!!!!

Have just heard from Marcia she has some new Greeting Farm stamps on their way to The Stamp Spot - so don't forget to check in to see if they've arrived!

Hope you are all fighting fit and ready to craft!

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #24 - Trick or Treat

This week's challenge over at Magnolia Down Under Challenges is Trick or Treat. I've said before that we Aussies don't really celebrate Halloween - although I LOVE some of the DPs and stamps I'm seeing on the American blogs and wish we had them here!!! I was VERY lucky to find one set of Pink Paislee DPs instore at my local Scrapbooking Shop though- and had stamped a couple of Kellie's witchy Tilda's a few weeks ago to play with so I had something to use for this challenge.

It may be hard to tell but this actually isn't a card! It's made from a wooden shadow box frame kit I found at the same scrapbook shop I found the DPs, the chipboard fence was from there too. I used one sheet of DP for the background - it had this marvellous design in the corner! I used some sparkling black EP to coat 2 die cut bats and one chipboard branch. The branch was attached to the inside of the frame to give the tree some depth. Witchy Tilda is coloured up this way after I saw the stage show Wicked and loved the green skinned Wicked Witch! Tilda also has Crystal Effects on her boots to give them shine and black stickles on her belt.

I'm not sure where this little gal will end up hanging - but she was a LOT of fun to put together! It's nice to do something other that a card sometimes!

Our wonderful sponsor this week is Bloomin' Pages Online store - they are offering a gorgeous stamp from Alota Stamps as the prize - check it out here at MDUC - along with all the other fabulout DT inspiration.

Kellie's Weekend Special at Magnolia Down Under

This is the second time this week I've posted twice in one day - what's going on!!!! I was making this card today when I got news of Kellie's fabulous weekend offer. I love this Magnolia cake slice - but after 2 days of clothes shopping with my daughter I think this is the ONLY type of cake I'll be seeing for the next few weeks - the diet starts NOW - why is buying new clothes sooo depressing!!!

The tutorial for the flower I made is here. All of the stamps and DP are from Magnolia and are available from Kellie's store - Magnolia Down Under. I've added some Crystal Effects to the "frosting" to make it look shiny and rich - just how I like my frosting to be. The punched hearts are smothered in Dazzling Diamonds as if they were sugar coated - did I REALLY say I was going on a diet - I'm feeling hungry now - LOL.

NOW check out the Weekend Special!!! From NOW until midnight, 11th October 2009 Melbourne time Kellie is offering these special package deals….

Kitchen Stamp
Chef Edwin Stamp
5.5″ x 5.5″ x2 of each design, giving you 12 sheets of Magnolia paper.

Usually Aus$ 35.30…. BUT for this weekend ONLY, so you better get in QUICK, you can get this pack for Aus$28.30 (this is not including postage) Like this offer? What about this one…

Mo Manning's Digital Pencil Challenge #1

Mo Manning's very first challenge has been hi-jacked by her characters Bella and Bronte - and they have chosen the colour "perple" for the challenge! This little guy (Bat Cat) is the very first Mo image that I coloured - and he has been sitting in my work-room waiting to be used for several weeks! As it's getting closer to Halloween I thought it was time he came out to play! We don't really celebrate Halloween in Australia but I do have an American colleague who does miss the fun of this holiday so I thought I'd give this to her - she often brings candy in to share with us so it will be nice to give something back.

But where is the purple you ask! The CS the card is made with is purple and there are purple stripes in the DP. The "boo" is cut out of the purple CS using my cuttlebug and there are 3 purple rhinestones in the top left corner - hope that qualifies!

I'm sooo going to enjoy playing along in Mo's challenges - any excuse to play with these fabulous images is fine by me - LOL

Anya Ink Challenge #1

YAY - I'm finally starting to feel like I'm getting back on track now! The kids are back and school and routines are back in place - for the most part! Now I can have a chance to play a little!

I really wanted to join in over at Anya Ink's first ever challenge, especially as it combines a colour combo I love with stamps I love - pink and brown with white or cream! I've layered 2 of my Fleur de Lis Nestabilities to create a snowflake - have you noticed I love snowflakes yet - LOL. Some fab DP from my stash created the perfect backdrop! I also added some white flower soft from The Stamp Spot to her earmuffs, muff and pom-poms. I figured the snowflake and Miss Anya were the stars here so I didn't need to much other embellishment!

Now why a Winter card when we're halfway through Spring here in Melbourne!?!?!?! Let me show you the weather on the day I was creating this - brrrrrrr. This hail storm was pretty heavy - I was soooo glad I had just got home from work and didn't need to go out again!!!

You gotta love Melbourne weather - it certainly can keep you guessing!!

Kellie's Magnolia Down Under Store - A Good Luck Card

Last Friday night I received some HAPPY MAIL from my lovely friend Kellie and new Boss Lady - I got some samples of the new Magnolia DP she's stocking in the new Magnolia Down Under Online Store! I also got some new rubber - oooh this is fun being on her DT! So what did I do you ask - I disappeared into my craft room and PLAYED of course!!!! I had this card made and in the mail on Saturday - a little something to send back to the lovely Kellie to wish her all the best for her new adventure. Of course I've delayed posting it here to give Kellie a surprise when she opens the envelope!

I've just received an email from Kellie to say it's arrived - so now I get to show it to you too - my second post today - unheard of - LOL

Kellie sent me the gorgeous "Kitchen" dresser stamp and I have used it a little differently here. For starters I chopped the top section off and used it as a window!!! I know - it looks fabulous where it is, but I really wanted this Tilda to be sitting on top of the drawers and something had to go! AND it shows you the versatility of the stamp so it's not ALL bad - LOL.

The drawers are actually layered 3 times - to give some depth to the image - very hard to capture in a photo - and there are mini rhinestone drawer knobs too!! Each jam jar is sitting on a different layer, and the top layer is just the drawers.

More Greeting Farm for The Stamp Spot to Celebrate the Launch of Anya Ink

This week I was going to move away from The Greeting Farm stamps and play with something different for My Stamp Spot DT day - but with Marcia and Tracey launching the first challenge on Anya Ink last Sunday I just HAD to use one - apart from the fact I love them!!!

This fabulous image was sent to me by my fellow Stamp Spot DT member, the lovely Sue - thanx Sue! I also wanted to use this gorgeous Poppy DP by SEI that Marcia sent me - check out the range at The Stamp Spot store here. I've used a strip of the reverse side near the bottom of the card, with a thin strip of Not Quite Navy CS on top. I used some thin double sided tape to attach the blue strip - but it was slightly wider than the CS - the solution - tip some glitter on the excess glue for a bit of sparkle!

The finishing touches involve nestabilities and cuttlebug embossing folders - both available from Marcia - the nesties do need to be pre-ordered though.

This afternoon I am heading out with my daughter to go shopping for an outfit for each of us for her graduation dinner later this month - I can't believe she's nearly finished High School!!! It will be a proud moment for her ol' mum and dad with her having to give a speech too - as outgoing College Vice Captain. She's been an amazing girl to bring up - just hope her brother is as easy through the High School years - LOL

More Mo and a Blogaversary!!!

I've had this gorgeous digital image coloured up for a few days now - just haven't had the chance to put her together!!! I had sooo many plans for these school holidays and haven't managed to do half of them - doing nothing but relaxing for the past couple of days hasn't helped - LOL. And it's back to the reality of school and work tomorrow - noooooooo!!!

I was reminded to use her though when Mo Manning - her wonderful creator!! - announced that some of the more popular Mo images are soon to be released as REAL STAMPS by Stampavie - GREAT news for those of you who don't like digis! This image - Rae with Journal - is one of the new stamps available for pre-order here.

Now onto the Blogaversary news...

I have been soo caught up in all sorts of things lately that I COMPLETELY forgot to check out my 1st blogaversay countdown! I knew it was coming up and had been squirelling away bits and pieces for a Blogaversary Candy - but haven't completed it yet!!! Thanx sooo much to 2 lovely comments from Sue Fitz and Teena from Toronto for wishing me a Happy Blogaversary and reminding me it was here!!!!

Soooooo - bear with me and I'll announce some belated Candy soon!

A Catch Up Of Some Projects!

With all the excitement of announcements and blog candy I thought I would slow down and catch my breath and show you sme projects I haven't posted yet!

This recipe swap was for the theme of Grilling! When we lived in America we became BIG fans of Cajun cooking and all of our visitors got introduced to this fabulous cuisine. Of course I HAD to bring a little bit of Cajun home with me - and many of our friends have enjoyed Cajun Blackened Fish on BBQ days at our house - so what better recipe to share with my fellow swappers. I paper pieced my favourite SU chef and popped some black pearl buttons on his top - very swish! A vibrant little fish from Fishy Friends (retired SU) looks quite happy on Cheffie's platter popped up on Dimensionals - hope he stays that way - LOL! Some Circle Circus stamped on the background for bubbles and a colour scheme to suit the recipe and I was done - and then 6 more needed to send off!

This is the other Card and Tag set I made for my library workshop - see here for the one we'll actually be making on the day and the class info. I wanted to show how the same concept can look soo different with DP. I LOVE this Ski Slope DP - think I have enough stocked for the next 10 years - LOL. I have 3D'd the Christmas tree by stamping and cutting out 3 extras on Old Olive and folding them in half before gluing them together - perfect for the recessed window card! A star brad on top hides the slightly messy top where all the points meet!

And this is the little box and bow we'll be making on the day! The box idea comes from the lovely Stampin' Alley and is 2 1/2" square. The bow is a smaller version of Dawn's from her video here. The bow dawn makes is pretty big so I needed to adjust the measurements to fit this cute box! Wouldn't these look great at each table setting on your Christmas table?
