Aurora Wings Challenge #27

This week's challenge over at Aurora Wings is "Say it with Flowers".

 I had so much fun with the little Pierrot Sprite card than I made here that when I was looking for an image to use for this challenge this beautiful one just seemed to call out to me. This is Harlequinade, an older image from Mitzi I believe, but absolutely gorgeous. 

 I used the same digi paper to mask her onto before adding a black border and printing her out. I gave the mask a little bit of definition with my shading and used a 2-tone look for the larger diamonds to make it look more vibrant. I then used those 2 tones in the main flowers, but separately this time. Lots of shine with the clear gelly roll pen and some rhinestones finished her off. I think this is such a theatrical image and thought the outline of rhinestones resembled stage lights - or maybe that's just my imagination running wild ;) 

From this angle you can see the shine from the glitter pen better, but sadly the other colours appear more washed out. I love the feeling that her eyes are hiding but giving you a piercing stare at the same time. More of my imagination coming into play perhaps!

Coffeeeeeeeee!!!

Yesterday I had a little bit of fun playing with some Bloobel Stamps. I love the quirky nature of these and when I saw Need Coffee I could totally relate to that feeling of needing a caffeine hit - I am such an addict now even though I didn't really start drinking coffee until I was 40! 

When I popped into the shop to buy the Need Coffee image I spotted My Cup of Tea and the idea for my card was born. It reminds me a little of those memes where they show different versions of the same event from different perspectives LOL. I am not too sure of my wording though - but I only thought I could come up with something better when I was halfway through colouring it up so meh - it will do.

B&W with One Other Colour in La-La Land

This week in La-La Land we are going B&W with One Other Colour. Many of you may be aware by now that my favourite colour is lime green so it was really a bit of a no brainer for me what the other colour would be LOL.

There are lots of patterns mixed in the card but with the semi-monochromatoc look I think it works OK, especially given the shapes aren't too fussy.

This week in La-La Land we are Lacing it Up. I decided to use some of the lacy dies from La-La Land to meet the challenge. I love the contrast between the strong colours and lacy elements here and hope you do too.

For this one I used the leaves to create a stencil from pink card and added some texture paste leaves to the background. I then used the leaves I had cut out over the top for added depth. Each of the images are popped up to different heights too which adds to the fun.

Adding Glitter in La-La Land

This week in La-La Land we are adding glitter. Sadly it's something that doesn't tend to photograph well. I know how sparkly this card is in real life - with stickles all over her tail, hair and shell bra, glittered die cuts and a metallic shine on the background. 

I had a LOT of fun with the central panel of this card. I used homemade texture paste  and a spotty stencil first - you can find the recipe for the texture paste here. I then used my heat gun to dry it - it was fascinating watching the skins form and then burst with little "sea worms"popping through!!! Once this was dry I spritzed on some water and dropped on some Magicals. Once all this was dry I also dotted on more stickles for even more glitter.

Aurora Wings Challenge #25

Our latest challenge over at Aurora Wings is an easy one.....

Oh and did you notice - it's our SECOND ANNIVERSARY too - woohoooo. 

Congratulations to Mitzi and the other amazing gals on the DT.

Now I'm not known for doing Scrapbook pages - and truth be told all that space on a 12x12 sheet scares me a little! BUT a friend of my daughter's recently posted this photo of her at Camden Market in London and it got my mind moving into the realm of scrapbooking and I KNEW it would awesome paired with the Steampunk Owl.

I made the owl REALLY BIG and cut it out with my Cameo. The way I do my print and cuts the cameo leaves a white border around the image so to tie it in better with my layout I coloured the border in using a black marker and loved the end result!!! It's hard to see but there are blue and violet tones in the photo, so I made sure to incorporate those colours in both my colouring and embellishments to give everything a lift.

Easter or Spring in La-La Land

This week we are celebrating Spring and Easter in La-La Land. I decided to go the Spring option and what better way to greet Spring than with flowers galore and bees buzzing happily away. I always think Spring is full of sparkle after a dull Winter so there are lots of glittery wings and rhinestones here to catch the sunlight.
