When Zoe showed us what she had been up to for Make it Crafty I knew what my next project was going to be - isn't this
Ferris Wheel AMAZING - and it comes completely flat packed in a kit with full directions and photos! I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to put it together after some catastrophes with flat pack kits from IKEA - but there are no allen keys here - just glue and FUN! Finished it stands just shy of 9 1/2 inches high FYI.
I had all sorts of ideas how to decorate this - but it's such an amazing construction that I wanted it to stay the star. AND you have to keep lots of areas clear as it can actually MOVE around!!! I used some Prima DP to cover the base, wheel, stands, and the chair seats, footrests and awnings. Zoe very kindly emailed me the SVG file for the wheel so I could cut the DP easily using my Cameo - and this file WILL be available as a download - along with a few extras Zoe has decided to add. A little bit of lace hung from the awnings have added a whimsical touch. I painted many of the parts in antique white - but it's not a perfect cover and it adds to the shabby chic feel I was after.
On the back is a handle which easily turns the wheel and the little chairs swing on their axles - even my hubby wanted to get into the act and get it moving - LOL. The chairs in my photo don't look like they're hanging straight because they were still swinging away when I took the pic - LOL.
I knew the new Frenchie images would suit the wheel perfectly - with their oversize ice creams they just SHOUT out carnival and fun! I added a rhinestone flourish to the wheel stand and some rhinestones around the wheel in place of the fairy lights that usually adorn ferris wheels.
