The Wizard of Oz - Mo Style

Edit - thanx for the advice guys - I've decided I WILL paint the frame white - I'll show you how it comes up when it's done!

I've been working on this for a few days - and I think I'm finally done! I wanted to create a scene using the four friends from The Wizard of Oz - it started as a card but got waaaayy too big - so I ended up using a shadow box frame. I'm just trying to decide whether to paint the frame or not - I'm SUCH a messy painter - but I think it would look nice in a crisp white?!?!?!?! ALL of the fabulous images are from Mo Manning and have been "popped" up at different levels to give it a 3D effect.

Apologies for the pictures - I couldn't stop the glare from the glass!

I made this for my 9yo niece who's having trouble with bullying at school - it's got soo bad she's had to change schools and is upset at leaving some of her friends behind. So I figured this little scene about friends coming in all shapes and sizes, and with all sorts of weaknesses to overcome - might just pop a smile on her face!

Just as I was about to post it I saw the current challenge over at Mad for Markers is "Anything But A Card" - I think this fits the bill and all my images were coloured in Copics, so I'm going to enter it there!!

All of these images are available in Mo's store, just click on their names for a direct link - Kansas (Dorothy and Toto), Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Man

This is gorgeous! You've done an amazing job! Being from Kansas, I'm such a Wizard of Oz fan and these little images by Mo are so awesome! I'm very sorry about your niece. I do NOT like mean people at all! It's very sad and I hope she makes friends very quickly, so it will help ease the pain some. I'll say a prayer for her, if that's ok. Have a wonderful day!
Blessings!

Hello!

This is so wonderfu! I love these Mo Manning images! You have created such a lovely and perfect gift for your niece! I think the white frame would pull it all together and make it pop but it is beautiful just the way it is! Wonderful project!

This looks even more fabulous IRL. The images are so gorgeous and the colouring is stunning and looks great in 3D. Yes it would like good in white (as we discussed), but will be fiddly to do - I'll leave that one to you (or your sister) to decide. I'm sure this will cheer up your niece, and hopefully things will settle down at the new school (kids can be so cruel). Thanks for today.

First off i feel for your niece ans she's just 9yo sigh.... I CANNOT AND WOULD NOT TOLERATE BULLIES grrrr!!! OH if i was to find out my kids bully someone in school or else where they won't hear the last from me!! It all starts in their home enviorment.Anyways talk to your niece after giving her this amazing creation of yours and tell her that she is above them.OH my gosh that poor thing tell her i'm sending her tight hugs!! Your gonna make me cry now lol!!! Mother of four i know the pain sigh...

Well my friend THANKS BUT I NOW HAVE A BRUISE ON MY JAW WHEN IT HIT THE FLOOR!! Your niece is gonna love you so much. This is so adorable. You know i think either white or a RED frame will make these images pop even more.I say red because you have red flowers in there and it will help carry that also.White you can't never be wrong lol!! SIMPLY GORGEOUS SWEETIE!! Give your niece many hugs FOR ME,RubyM:)

Wow Debbie! This is fabuuuulous! Amazing combination of details and will certainly brighten up your niece's day. I'm sorry to hear about her troubles with bullying. It is unfortunate she's had to change schools but I hope this change will be a good and safe one for her. Hugs, Maria

I left a comment via Facebook, and now that I've seen the frame in the raw (so to speak LOL), I agree that it's so much lovelier in white.

You're just the best aunt on earth to make something so thoughtful AND beautiful for your niece. I know how it is to struggle at school (my 9yodd is doing it now), and a reminder about friends where you least expect them surely will help.

This is just stunning!!! And a wonderful sentiment for your niece. Bullying can be just awful... I went through a little myself and with my autistic son starting school the year after next it's at the top of my worry list xoxox
