Sketch Time in La-La Land

This week in La-La Land we are creating to the sketch on the left. One of the things I LOVE about sketches is how one base idea can be interpreted so many different ways and I am looking forward to checking out the DTs makes on this one for that very reason. I've made a start on my Christmas cards - I've actually been doing a few for the magazine so was in the mood to do one for me - LOL. And with the year half over it's probably a good time to start anyway!

Aurora Wings Challenge - No Lines or Colour Bingo

This month over at Aurora Wings Challenges we have a choice of challenges for you. You can use either.....

This is the colour bingo board - some pretty strong colours and interesting combos here for you to try - if you dare! Or you can try the "no lines" technique where you print your image very lightly and colour so it looks like there aren't any lines at all.

For my card I've used the gorgeous Hydrangea Fairy 2 and attempted the No Lines technique - however I'm not sure I succeeded as my lines are still visible even though they are lighter than normal. With all the detail in Mitzi's artwork I just didn't trust myself to go toooooo light. But the thought was there ;)

Introducing Momento Mori from Aurora Wings

Occasionally the Aurora Wings DT gets to introduce a new image with a group post - this is one of those times and it's always amazing to see how everyone interprets and colours the same image. This hauntingly beautiful image is called "Memento Mori" which is Latin for "Remember that you will die" or "Remember your own mortality". I added a little touch of Aussie to mine by adding a sparkly red stripe down the back of the spider to turn it into one of our infamous red back spiders - a deadly little beast unfortunately!

You can see the gorgeous creations from the girls on the Showcase Blog. You can find this image in Mitzi's Esty Store or her Digital Stamp Store

Let's Use Stripes

This week in La-La Land we are using Stripes. I've done a boy's card so left the embellishments a little plainer as I think the sunshine die cut over the striped paper is the perfect background for these 2 cuties. I'm actually glad I got something done at all - I've discovered it's not easy colouring with watery eyes and a head full of a cold!

Make Your Own Embellishments in La-La Land

This week In La-La Land we are making our own embellishments. I remember a couple of years ago I had a similar challenge to do at Magnolia Down Under Challenges and I had found a tutorial for a wire and bead bird nest. I decided to use that again as my base idea for this card as it would work perfectly with some of the bird themed dies.

I also used some Martha Stewart paper clay and a silicone bird mold I have to add some more birdy fun to my project. If you're interested you can find the bird nest tutorial HERE.

Fun Folds in La-La Land

This week in La-La Land we are using Fun Folds. I have always liked tri-fold cards but somehow always managed to cut them so they didn't sit flat when folded. This time I cheated and drafted one up using my Silhouette Cameo, making sure I also drafted out the designer paper pieces. Then it was easy - I just got my cameo to cut everything out and I simply put it together and decorated it. I do believe I'll be making more of these now ;)

Aurora Wings Challenge #3

This month on the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog we are asking you to use....

Now these can be within the image or as part of your embellishments - I've gone for both here. I've used the beautiful Girl with Fairies image. The large fairy at the front had been given the 3D treatment with the top part of her wings cut and popped up using silicone. All the fairy wings are coated in "fairy dust" (aka glitter) for that extra magical touch.

Using String or Twine in La-La Land

This week in La-La Land we are using twine and/or string - I managed to use both to create a full bow for my large rose to sit on. The card shape and mats were cut using my Cameo. I have popped Faerie Marci up on a wobble fixture - she looks so cute glittering away as the glitter and rhinestones capture the light as she moves.

A Baby Card for Mia

Yesterday I got to meet my gorgeous new Great-Niece Mia. She is just the most adorable little thing - when I look at my "baby" who now towers above me now it's hard to believe he was ever close to being that small. They really do grow so fast!

To celebrate the early arrival of Miss Mia I used this adorable New Baby image from Wee Stamps. I also used the Martha Stewart alpha mold and a baby feet mold I have with some paper clay - I LOVE how much fun this stuff is to use and the dimension it gives. I was also grateful they hadn't chosen a much longer name ;)
