Magnolia Down Under Challenge #25 - Distressing

What can I say - when the Queen of Distressing (aka Kellie) set distressing for our Magnolia Down Under Challenge this week I knew I may struggle! I LIKE things nice and neat, though don't check out my workspace - LOL. Even though I think Kellie's style is amazingly wonderful and I am in awe of it - it's just not my style - trust me I've tried. But I do actually own a distressing tool and used it on most of the edges here. I also thought buttons instead of pearls in the snowflake centres were more suited to the theme - they are just a little less polished I suppose!

I've used a Magnolia Christmas Tree and Tilda from last year's Christmas release - I really wanted to give them a chance to see some ink before my new Magnolia Christmas stamps arrive!! Between Kellie's Magnolia Down Under Store and Bizzy Bec's Store I think they have covered nearly all of the images available - and are they ever GORGEOUS!!!

Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is the lovely Gabbie over at The Soap Dish - if you are a lover of handmade soaps this HAS to be the place for you, and they make amazing gifts - Christmas is just around the corner!!! Gabbie is also a fellow papercrafter and does some beautiful work!

Talking about beautiful work - don't forget to check out the amazing creations from the rest of the MDUC team - I've seen a sneak peek of a couple - it's worth the mouse click!!!

xXx

  3. Hi Debbie,

I'm SO with you on the neat theme... always amazes me how something pristine comes from a disaster-area (my busy room, your study, LOL). That said, I love your work: its off-centre, just a bit ragged round the edges, and anyone decorating a tree in just their socks is VERY distressing (think of all the hooks getting caught in them). I'm in awe of your colouring too. Great card!

  19. Hahaha Carolann's comment cracked me up about decorating the tree in sock feet!

Gorgeous card Debbie. I know what you mean, though. It's a challenge for me to distress, although you've seen me try it recently with fair success, but I lapse back to the clean look, which is more comfortable. This is just the sweetest image ever! I love the way you colored her up... her hair is perfect, and the puff at her skirt and bow in her hair are the perfect touches!

I hope things are going well as Sarah winds down to the finish line!

    Love and hugs always,
    Lisa

  20. Debbie, this is stunning!!! And that's without seeing Tilda's face!!! Truly, your colouring work is awesome. I wish I can come over and you can give me lessons. Despite your not liking distressing, the card is stellar. Nice touch with the bow for her pigtails.

  24. I totally understand the distressing thing, Debbie. I sometimes try it out ... and feel like I should have left it alone! But ... this is very gentle distressing ... so I really like it! The whole layout is gorgeous. I just am in awe. I must be too rushed doing my cards ... sometimes I look around at other blogs ... and think ... WOW!!! Wish I could do that!!! One day life will be a little quieter ... and I will take more time with my cards!!! LOL!!! Hugs, Andrea xxx
