Mo's Sophie

This little gal with her rag doll from Mo Manning is one of my all time Mo favourites, her name is Sophie. When I found her printed off in my folder I figured it was time to colour her up again. Our weather here in Melbourne is gorgeous at the moment as we head towards our Summer - that and the floral accents in the air inspired my sunny colour combo.

I went with a tent topper card for a change too - although I started started out making one of my standard square cards. Unfortunately I was a tad low on yellow cardstock so had to imrpovise - LOL. I'm glad I did as I forgot how fun tent toppers are to create!

Time to Get Spooky in La La Land

This week in La La Land we are celebrating Halloween. I've used Vampire Luka and given him a fabulously funky lime green Halloween outfit and  two-tone hair. He also has a rather pale complexion as befits a creature of the night. This guy is just soo much fun to colour up!

As well as our BLOG where you can check out inspiration from my amazing teamies, La La Land Crafts also have a Facebook Page HERE and La La Lands Facebook Group HERE. We love seeing your amazing creations using La La Land Stamps and Dies.

Guest DT at Deep Ocean Challenges

I was so excited when I was asked to be a Guest DT over at Deep Ocean Challenges this week. The theme is “Sporty and Outdoors”. I chose to use ice skating Tilda as she reminds me of all the years my daughter did figure skating. Unfortunately here in Australia we don't really have outdoor rinks but she has been lucky enough to skate outdoors in Paris and London so she can't really complain.

I learnt to ice skate outdoors up in the Swiss Alps where we lived when I was 5 - it's a memory I hold dear. I think the Make it Crafty ice skating lake and snowflake chipboard frame I used are a perfect link to those memories and tie everything together.

Check out what the rest of the DT have come up with and join in the fun - you have 2 weeks for this one.

A Baby Onesie Card

This cute onesie card was made at my daughter's request to give to the lady she has been working for over the past 2 years. The first time mum-to-be hasn't found out if she's having a boy or a girl so I was asked to use her favourite non gender specific colours - green and purple. The card was cut using my Cameo and I down-sized the Silhouette pattern to create several pages for the staff to sign on the inside.

One of Mo's gorgeous Three Baby Fairies was chosen to decorate the front of the card. The word "baby" was also cut using my silhouette and then doused with glitter for some fairy dust fun. A few pearls along the bottom act as faux snaps.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #169

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges it's Fa La La La time - in other words we want you to create something inspired by a song. Now most of my teamies have chosen Christmas carols but I've gone for something a little more contempory with Pink's fabulous song "Raise Your Glass". After colouring up my Tilda I asked my son to pick the song I had chosen - I was rapt when he got it right the very first go!

I decided to add some black elements to make the card a bit edgier - more PINK the artist than Pink the colour - LOL

And in case you don't know the song here's the video - I LOVE Pink so I will be cranking up the speakers and singing away - sorry if anyone can hear me ;)

Don't forget to pop on over to our BLOG and see what the rest of the amazing MDUC DT has come up with for your singing and crafting pleasure - I dare you to try not humming along to at least ONE of the songs depicted - LOL.

La La Land October Release

This week in La La Land we are introducing you to FOUR new images for New Years - this one is New Years Marci. We are also following a fun sketch by our very own teamie Sandie.

The DP I chose for the background looks a little like a sky full of fireworks and I added a row of houses at night to the foreground. A very glittered up sparkler in Marci's hand and she's all set to celebrate the start of a new year - although she could easily be celebrating something else too.

Mo's Dream Team Blog Hop

Welcome to Mo's Dream Team's monthly blog hop where we are getting into the festive spirit and creating Christmas cards with animals on. Our Hostess with the Mostest this month the the gorgeous and talented Gretha and her BLOG is where all the fun begins. If you are already hopping along you should have landed here from Alice's Blog where I'm sure there was something gorgeous to see.

For my card I used the super cute Santa Cat and went with a more CAS approach as I've been seeing some stunning CAS cards on Pinterest lately. Well it started off CAS but I just couldn't help myself and threw on some flowers in the corners and some sparkly blue gems - it's hard to break some habits - LOL. I used a white pearlised vellum to emboss the pattern onto - so there's a wonderful sheen to the whole thing. I added some texture to the cat's Santa hat with liquid applique which pops up when heated. Then some star dust stickles went over the "fur" and around the edge of the card for that Christmas sparkle.

Oh I just realised my card is similar to the wonderful banner Jak created for this hop - it must have been my inspiration!

Now it's time to head on over and see what gorgeousness Mina has for you.

Here's the full hop list in case you get lost along the way - the links are on my left sidebar under Mo's logo.

Steampunk Santas from Make it Crafty

There are some FABULOUS new Santa designs available now over at Make it Crafty - Steampunk Santas - you'll find them under the Christmas tab HERE! This is one of four fun new Santas flying your way this Christmas. This guy may seem a little familiar if you've checked them out in the store already - but now you get to see the WHOLE card - hope you like it!

No pretty poinsettia flowers here to embellish - metal and rusty chipboard cogs are all the rage. Zoe has some fabulous Snowflake cogs coming to the store VERY SOON - so watch out for those - they work perfectly with these images. For those who want to know I used some ferro texture paste on my cogs to give the rusted effect.

An October Christmas in La La Land

This week in La La Land we are celebrating Christmas. It may only be October but we cardies need to get our Christmas cards underway and with our challenge this week I've happily managed to create another one for my stash.

Last weekend I went to a local papercraft show and found a fabulous embossing folder with a Christmas scene which I've used it to emboss some shimmer vellum for the central panel. A couple of dies and my cute Christmas Lantern Marci surround the scene. I chose to paper piece part of Marci's outfit and added some shading to create depth.

Under the Sea

I decided I needed a little break from Christmas cards so I delved into Mo Manning's fantasy world and used one of the adorable mermaids from her Little Mermaids Set. This is an adorable little set with two little mermaids - Mairin and Kailani, two crazy tropical fish and a starfish and an undersea rock with coral, seaweed and urchins.
I used some Prima paper in soft tonings and surrounded my image with a chipboard frame from Make it Crafty. I wish you could see this IRL as it sparkles a treat after using my glittler gel pens on the frame, and her hair and tail.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #167

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we are asking you to use 3 or 4 of your favourite colours. When I saw the challenge I thought EASY PEASY - but it really wasn't! I have several colour combos I would classify as my faves but most of them are only TWO colours - adding in a third added a bit of a challenge for me. How did I solve it?? I hit my boxes of designer paper pads and flipped through them until one stood out. Green has long been a favourite colour of mine and I when I saw the Bo Bunny Welcome Home pad in my collection I knew I was on a winner - the green, blue and brown are gorgeous together aren't they.

Pop along and check out the rest of the amazing inspiration from the fabulous MDUC DT on our BLOG - maybe you'll find your new favourite colour combo there!

Heavy Metal for Christmas

This week in La La Land we are using Heavy Metal. Since I'm well and truly in Christmas mode at the moment I decided to use the uber cute Elf Luka and added one of Tim Holtz's fabulous metal plates for my sentiment.

To get myself in the mood I found this fabulous Christmas video on Youtube - Heavy Metal Christmas music - LOL. I'm not usually a heavy metal music fan but there are some gorgeous scenes on here and the music is pretty cool too.

A Christmas Sleigh

Just before Christmas last year I saw this gorgeous pattern for a cardstock sleigh from Sandra's Scrapshop but I held off as it was too late and I knew I would forget I had it in my looooooong to do list! Since Christmas is sneaking up on us already this year I thought it was time to buy it and have a play.

Sandra is very clever and has designed this so it can fold flat for posting - an option I didn't use this time as I'm planning on filling it with a gift and giving it away. This pattern available as both a pdf to print and cut or - for lazy people like me - in cut files to be used with an electronic cutter. This was cut using my Cameo and my gorgeous little Make it Crafty Elf Floppy came out to help me decorate it - he doesn't know it yet but I'll be needing his help later to load the sleigh with goodies too!!!
I've used a Memory Box die to cut the snowflake flourish out and added some Make it Crafty chipboard snowflakes too. A few flowers, leaves, snow and sparkle and it was done!

Copics Used - Skin (E21, E11, E000) plus B99, B97, B95, B93, B91, B05, E47, E44, E43, E42, E41, E40, E08, T2, T0, YR14, Y13, white gel pen

EDIT - I was asked what the brown cardstock is and since I can't find any contact info for the lady who asked I'll pop it here in case she pops back - I used a brand called Cut Mates to cut out the sleigh as it's designed for electronic cutters. But I have punched the holly leaves out of Stampin' Up cardstock and this colour (which is an almost perfect match to the cut mates) - is called Soft Suede.
