Oh, Alice Chapter 6 - The Red Queen's FINE PRINT...

This week's Oh,Alice challenge is to create a card using SOME form of printed text on your card or project!

I found this "conversation" on the internet and printed it off and then made my little "tea party". I have used 2 images from Spesch Digital Stamps to help create my scene - Hatter and Bonnie. I thought Bonnie made such a cute Alice - especially as she's giving the "White Rabbit" a big Wonderland hug - or is that the March Hare - LOL. The Basic Grey cupcake background worked well too. Some funky colours and colourful buttons finish everything off.

Apologies this is short and sweet - life is a little hectic at my place atm!

Take care and hope YOU have time for a tea party.....

Mo's Challenge #24 - A Sketch

I have fond childhood memories of my Grandma's house and the constant stream of stray cats she took in. For some reason this week's sketch challenge from Mo's Digital Pencil has brought many of these memories flooding back! It probably started with my choice of image - the fun lovin' Sinatra. I remember the frustration as the cats "played" with my Nana's ball of wool as she tried to get her knitting done! Since I bought a ball of wool for another recent challenge I decided to start knitting a "scarf" and have Sinatra play with the yarn at the other end!
I had a lot of fun with this sketch - it's good to try an idea that's a little different sometimes and the sketch was easy to play with! The sentiment is computer generated and the DP is from one of my Basic Grey paper pads - I know - what a surprise - LOL.

A Little Challenge from Da Boss Lady!

Kellie from the Magnolia Down Under Store is affectionately known by her DT as "Boss Lady" - hmmm, think I started that one - LOL. This week she has set us a little challenge - to use one of our GORGEOUS stamps from the Hoppy Easter Range - AND to use something we don't usually use! I've used Tilda with 3 Flowers here - and as I don't have much need for Easter cards I've shown how versatile she is and used her for a more general card.

I don't use faux stitching very often so I dragged out my white gel pen to fulfil the second part of Da Boss Lady's challenge. Apart from the CS and ribbon everything else was sourced from Magnolia Down Under - including the fabulous personalised stamps which will be available for a limited time only! And don't forget there's gonna be some excitement over at Magnolia Down Under - Kellie has made some changes and I can't wait to share everything with you SOOOON!
I've used this week's fabulous sketch from Just Christmas and Birthday Cards (#58) - I'm not sure if I'll get it entered over there in time - but the sketch was just what I was looking for.
This week's challenge over at Magnolia Down Under Challenges is to use stitching - real or faux - in your creation! For someone who doesn't use much stitching I've now done a card using BOTH types - LOL.

Have a GREAT week - with lots of time for fun!

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #39

This week's challenge over at Magnolia Down Under Challenges is to use "Stitching - real or fake" somewhere on your creation. I had a wedding card to make for a couple of teachers at the school I've been working at so decided to combine the challenge with my needs.

This card has been CASEd from my always amazing fellow DT member Debra James. Debra made THIS gorgeous card for her daughter's wedding last year. With the Magnolia wedding stamps not yet available I decided to "borrow" ideas from her wonderful design for this card. Debra had a stamped heart in the background but I have "appliqued" a DP heart on using freehand machine stitching. I learnt this technique years ago and it was sooo much fun to revisit it.

I used the same Tilda Debra used but didn't have the suited up Edwin - so went with this cutie instead. I also used a piece of knotted white ribbon to give Tilda a veil - the knot is just behind her head and helped to make the "veil" sit right. She has some dazzling diamonds on her head piece, lace hems and bouquet to give her that bridal sparkle. I've coloured the hair to match the real couple - a blondie and a redhead!

The DPs and the pink flower are from Kellie's Magnolia Down Under Store. And don't forget you can order these fabulous personalised stamps from Kellie too - and there are several styles to choose from.

Now don't forget to pop over to MDUC and see what the rest of the DT have created to inspire you, and what wonderful prize we have on offer this week!

A Bit of Fun for an 18th

One of my daughter's best friend's ( they met when they were 3!!!) turned 18 yesterday and Sarah asked me if I could make him a funny card. When I think of funny cards I can't go past Bugaboo Stamps - the lovely Cheryl from My Cardmaking Heaven has been doing some fantastic cards with these guys so they were my first stop. I showed them to my daughter and as the drinking AND driving age in Melbourne is 18 she thought this one would be appropriate for Luke. I don't agree with drinking and driving at ANY age but any message that gets across the idea NOT to drink and drive can't be bad!

I love Gus - he's the Pop every young man should have in his life to give advice - or maybe not - LOL.

My DP is from my Basic Grey Sugar Rush paper pad and the 18 was cut using my cuttlebug dies. Poor old Gus needs pretty thick glasses to see properly so I've helped him out with some crystal effects lenses.

Happy 18th Luke - hope you like the card!

My Last Post for The Stamp Spot

Well it's time for me to move on and leave The Stamp Spot DT. Marcia is in the middle of re-organising where she wants her team to go and I wish her all the very best with her future - it's been an absolute blast being on the DT and I feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to make some fabulous friends and challenge myself along the way!

I loved this Stampavie image when I saw it and thought it was the perfect choice for my farewell card! It's one of the new stamps Marcia has listed. I also added a touch of sparkle onto the roses with some crystal stickles.

The DP is from Basic Grey's Sugar Rush paper pad. The paper pad, roses, stickles, pearls and doily are all from The Stamp Spot Store. I didn't bother with adding a sentiment - I thought the "You and Me" at the top left said it all!

After I made this I noticed I used the same layout as my previous card - it always amazes me how you can get such a different look though - it's one of the reasons I love sketches.

Oh, Alice Chapter 5 - Whooooo Rrrrrrrrrrr Youuuuuuuuuuuu?

This week the Oh,Alice crew are celebrating Spring - even though that's 6 months away for us Aussies - LOL!!! To this end we needed to create a card using a caterpillar or butterfly on our projects this week! Now I have all sorts if winged images - fairies, butterflies etc - I could have used but I wanted to stay within the "Alice" theme - so I've used the White Queen from Spesch Digital Stamps (although she's a little off-white here - LOL). I have the queen wandering through her Spring garden - with sparkly butterflies fluttering about. And LOOK - I managed to figure out some pastel shades - but do have a few more on order!!!!

Last weekend my son went to a classmate's 12th birthday party - and it was one of the girls - and boy did my daughter get some teasing time in over that - LOL!!! It also made me realise I needed more cards suited to younger girls - I think this one fits the bill pretty well! The other thing I was trying to be careful about was not putting too much height on this card. Recently I had to find a card in my stash to send off quickly - and they were all festooned with bulky flowers, bows and bling!!!  NOT easy to pop in an envelope and send off - but what can I say - I DO love that look and usually have to send them off in specially made or bought boxes - LOL! At least these butterfly wings will fold down, the ribbon has a knot instead of a bow, and the bling is all small - mission accomplished.

My DP is from my Basic Grey Kioshi paper pad - this is such a BEAUTIFUL range!

xXx

Coming Soon to Magnolia Down Under

YAY - Kellie has the fabulous Fairytale Collection "coming soon" to her Magnolia Down Under Store. I've seen some of these beauties on other blogs and just LOVE them. This fabulous princess has often been coloured in soft, pastel shades - but I have discovered my copic colours are greatly lacking in these tones so my princess has been coloured in rich regal reds and golds. I've used my gold Spica pen on her crown and to give the yellows a touch more glamour.

The DP, doily, flowers and leaves all came from Magnolia Down Under - though the DP was from the Christmas range and isn't in stock - but there are some GORGEOUS papers there for your crafting pleasure anyway.

Hopefully we won't have to wait tooooo long for these beauties to be instore - but you can always sign up for Kellie's newsletter so you don't miss out when they DO come!

MORE NEWS!

Kellie has started her pre-order for the third issue of Magnolia Ink - A Midsummer Night's Dream. So if you don't want to miss out on YOUR copy pop over HERE and place your order!
AND THERE'S MORE!!!

Magnolia Down Under is going through some changes as of the first week in April. We are all so EXCITED about it and can't wait for you to see them all. But for a little hint, do you like stamps other than the gorgeous Magnolia's? Like....... Kraftin' Kimmie or Sweet November and MORE.....? Well as I said keep your eyes peeled and look out around the 1st week of April for a Magnolia Down Under CHANGE!

Mo's Challenge #23

This week the gang over at Mo's Digital Pencil Challenges have asked us to use at least three punches on our card or project. I've used 5 different punches here so I know this one qualifies.

I decided to start off by using my scallop circle punch to make the main flower - there are lots of these "scrunched" flowers around and they look fabulous! I've paired my flowers with some punched fern leaves. The sentiment uses my scallop oval and small oval punches and I've framed part of my image with a strip punched using my Martha Stewart punch. Phew - my hand hurts from all that punching out - LOL.

The DP is from my Basic Grey, Green at Heart paper pad.

For some reason I really struggled creating today - hope it doesn't show - LOL.

Have a GREAT week - it's my last one at work and I can't wait to de-stress and craft more - although the kids start a 2 week break at the end of the week too so it may not happen just yet....

Anya Ink Challenge - Guest DT Spot

This week I have the honour of being a GDT for Anya Ink. The challenge this week is "bling" and I have gone for a really old fashioned "Hollywood" glitz feel for my card. I wish you could see this IRL - it sparkles beautifully. I have used crystal stickles on all the edges as well as in the lace work created by my Martha Stewart punch. I have used my Copic Spica gold pen to give my "Marilyn" a sparkly gold lame dress and shoes. Her wrap has been covered in Dazzling Diamonds for more bling! And what does an old fashioned gal like as much as sparkle - pearls! "Marilyn" is sitting on a shelf of pink and cream pearls - with more placed around the card and on the satin bow.

To finish off the Hollywood feel I have computer generated a sentiment which was a famous quote by the late, great Marilyn Monroe herself. The DP is from my Basic Grey Porcelain paper pad.

BREAKING NEWS - Anya Ink has a new owner - my wonderful friend Kristy Young is taking over the challenge and has some exciting plans! But first she's having a new DT call!!! So what are you waiting for .... check out the requirements HERE and GOOD LUCK!

Now grab your bling and one of your TGF stamps and come along and have some fun over at Anya Ink!

Another Mini Easel Card

I decided to make another mini easel card for my Stamp Spot Wednesday - these are sooo much fun. I've been mainly using my gorgeous Greeting Farm stamps for these posts but Marcia does have products from several other gorgeous stamp companies at her Stamp Spot Store - this cutie is from Inky Impressions.

You can also buy Nestabilities at The Stamp Spot. I've used my circles and large scallop sets here. Once again my DP is from a Basic Grey paper pad - I just LOVE these for cards. The downsized pattern means they are the right scale for cards!
Edit - these papers are from the Kioshi paper pad by Basic Grey for those that asked.

I've used a touch of crystal Stickles on the flower edges and on  Angelica's headband - it gives it just the right touch of sparkle!

So pop on over and check out the wonderful range of images, tools and embellishments Marcia has instore HERE.

Oh, Alice Chapter 4 - Picturing Wonderland

This week's Oh,Alice challenge is another sketch. I was still in party mode after our wonderful MDUC 1st Birthday Blog Hop yesterday and decided these 2 gorgeous Wonderland images from Spesch Digital Stamps could party on for this challenge! BTW - if you like these images Tracey is having a DT call HERE! Unfortunately the colours haven't come out quite the same in the picture as they are IRL - the pink on the Cheshire Cat is more of a "hot pink" - but hopefully it's not too bad! Interestingly the picture looks completely different between my laptop and PC!
For the "rabbit hole" I've used concentric black circles cut using my nestabilities which I've then glued on top of each other at one spot on the side - it's gives the "hole" a bit of depth I think. I've intertwined the Cheshire Cat through the circles because cats love to wind themselves around things as they purr away! I did have to flip her over so she was facing the right way though! The funky DP is from one of my Basic Grey paper pads and adds to the sense of fun and spirals.

Hope you enjoyed my bit of Alice fun!

Magnolia Down Under Challenges 1st Birthday Bash CANDY Blog Hop...

Hello there Magnolia Lovers and Welcome to the 1st Birthday Blog Hop for Magnolia Down Under Challenges....!!

We are so excited and thrilled to become 1! Who knew that when Magnolia Down Under Challenges started with only 3 members it would be bigger and better a year on. We are all SO EXCITED that we have decided to do a birthday blog hop and what's better is that all the DT are offering CANDY! To be eligible you have to hop on to each Design Team Member's blog and leave them some comment lovin affection ;) Winners will be announced on the Magnolia Down Under Challenges Blog at the end of the challenge and also on the personal DT blogs for who won their individual candy.

If you've just happened across my blog and didn't start at the beginning click HERE.... But if you have come from Kristy's blog then you are well on your hop....

Now you've seen the front of my birthday card but there's a little surprise waiting on the inside! There's a surprise party there - woohoooo - what fun!!!! I've used this very special occasion to make my very first "pop-up" card! This was sooo much fun but I did have to be very careful about not using too many thick embellishments on the inside - I soo wanted to add in party streamers and more flowers!!! But at least there's cake and a present!

The white shape is for writing in your message - just in case you were wondering - LOL. I've used a mix of Basic Grey and Kaiser DPs here - my Nestabilities and Martha Stewart punch got a work out too. The ticket stubs are Bizzy Bec's digitals and the swirl stamp is by Rhonna Farrar (flourishes v:2). I've used Neenah paper I got from my friend Sammi - who's going to be selling it here in Oz for all of us Downunder Copic gals - it's the first time I've used it and I'm hooked!

To keep the fun going here's a little bit of blog candy from me for one lucky person - in it you'll find 60's Tilda, 1 pack of mini rhinestones, 1 pack of Dragonfly Crafts Rhinestones and 8 charms (2 each hearts, flowers, dragonflies and butterflies) AND what's a surprise party without a surprise???? You'll find an additional goodie in your parcel when it arrives - but I'm not going to tell you what it is - it does keep the "bling" theme going though - LOL!!!

Thanks for stopping by.... Continue the hop by visiting Angie...

Now just in case you've got yourself a little lost here is the complete hop in order for you - enjoy and GOOD LUCK!

Mo's Challenge #22

This week's challenge over at Mo Manning's Digital Pencil Challenge Blog is to make any shape card EXCEPT a square or rectangle - it can't even fold up to look like a square or rectangle!

I've had this gorgeous image called Siku and Shiya for a little while and had the thought of popping them in front of an igloo. I figured if I cut the card into the SHAPE of an igloo I would fulfil the challenge requirements for the week! I found this igloo image HERE after using one of my favourite internet tools - Google. I was a bit worried about mixing one of Mo's images with an image from somewhere else as you shouldn't merge images from different artists without checking with them first! I emailed Mo and she very kindly got back to me saying she had no problem with me doing this - THANX MO!!! I coloured the igloo first and then layered it onto some folded CS before cutting around the shape - this added some strength to the image and hid the colours that had seeped through - the card fold is on the LHS.

I've popped Siku and Shiya up on dimensionals and used some dazzling diamonds for some Winter sparkle! The digi stamp sentiment is from Bizzy Bec's. A fairly simple card but I'm really happy with it!

Butternut Sage Contest

As I mentioned yesterday my lovely friend Donna over at Butternut Sage Designs has an amazing blog candy contest going! I have enjoyed Donna's Stampin' Up creations from the very beginning of my stamping journey. Her creations are always stylish and inspiring - and she loves a bit of dry embossing too - a gal after my own heart! Donna often has some fun and whimsical elements to her cards too - make sure you spend some time scrolling through her blog if you visit! And her bows - WOW - it almost makes me wish I did bows more often - LOL.

I've gone back to my SU roots for this card - to further honour Donna's dedication to these wonderful products. I've used my "God's Beauty" stamp set and the sentiment is from SU's "Sincere Salutations". I was going to pop a bow on somewhere - but couldn't figure out where - LOL. It's really hard to emulate someone else's style - especially one so different to mine! I sooo felt the need to layer on some flowers, leaves etc! I hope I've captured Donna's style OK - but as always - the original is ALWAYS the best!!!!

A Joy Fold Card For The Stamp Spot

Wednesday is my DT day for The Stamp Spot and I have been showcasing some of the fabulous new stamps Marcia has in now she's re-stocked after her move - this one is Princess Ava from The Greeting Farm!

I've made my very first joy fold card thanx to the wonderful inspiration I've been seeing from Kylie over at INKlings from Kylie's Kraft Room. The final temptation was the tutorial she's posted HERE - and she has it on both imperial AND metric!!!

Once again I've used a Basic Grey paper pad for the DPs - and Marcia now has these listed under a separate heading HERE to make them easier to find - thanx Marcia!!! The roses are also from The Stamp Spot Store - and the nestabilities and cuttlebug folders can be found there too! I have used one of my Martha Stewart border punches and the sentiment was computer generated by me and says "Sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince...".

I'm going to enter this into the Anya Ink Challenge this week too - the challenge is embossing! I was sooo excited to come in the top 3 last week with my baby t-shirt - and I will be reporting on the wash tests soon..... I need to pop it through again!

Enjoy the rest of your week

What Is This????

Can you figure it out?????

Let me tell you I have one of the sweetest guys around! Last week I was trying to find a storage solution for my Copic and Touch markers. They have always lived in an ice-cream container which I could carry around with me to the rink when my daughter skated - or to friends - or even to the space I happened to be working in at home! The problem was the more markers I got the harder it was to find the right colours easily and some of them slid down and went missing amongst the others. Also I had heard you should store them on their sides!! Hmmmmmm - I looked in all the local stores for ideas and then hit the internet! I needed something that was easy to use AND portable!

I found THIS post that had a fabulous idea on it. I excitedly showed my hubby and asked if it was possible to make me one!!! He ummed and aaagh'd - he does that a lot!!! - and disappeared into his workroom with a couple of my markers. A little while later he wandered in with the inside of the box all made up - what a STAR!!!! Can you imagine his face when I asked if he could make one for a friend at the same time - after all - doing 2 at a time isn't much more work than making one and starting again is it?!?!?! AND we were giving him an excuse to use up some of the bits and pieces of wood in the garage ; )

But within 24 hours my friend and I were happily organising our colours and miscellaneous pens into their new homes!!! And look - I even have room for MORE - LOL. The next question - when will I have time to pretty it up a bit???

Thanx soooooo much honey - you're my hero!

Oh, Alice - Chapter Three, "We're painting the roses red"

Boy did I have an interesting day yesterday!!!! I woke up early to go to the Paperific Show but quickly popped onto the computer to check out the new challenges! Oh, Alice Chapter 3 was up - ooooh - this meant I could look for some ideas at the show - especially as I love to find the fun and wacky side of my creativity with this challenge!!! This week's challenge is an inspiration piece - and the colours purple, blue and red. I also discovered I had won last week's Oh, Alice challenge - woohooo - how exciting.

Alas the show was not to be - after picking up my friend and heading across town we discovered the show had been shut down - we had a FREAK hail storm on Saturday with hail bigger than golf balls - check out this photo I found on one of the news sites!!! The roof of the show hall had opened in parts and  they had evacuated for fear of the roof collapsing under the weight of the ice!!!! Noooooooo... The storm WAS pretty nasty - we were lucky to have only one car with some nasty hail dents - many people had floods, power outages, broken windows and more - an insurance company nightmare!

So I went to my stash to play this challenge - with no funky DP I went with plain CS and texture! Since Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps are sponsoring the challenge this week I pulled out one of my Kimmie stamps to use - she's a bit of a cross between Alice and the Queen of Hearts I think - though can't explain the frog on her head - LOL. The giggle sentiment from SU just seemed to suit the silliness of the card.

xXx

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #36 - A Recipe

This week over at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we have a recipe for you to follow - unfortunately you won't end up with a batch of cupcakes at the end but you should end up with a wonderful card - LOL! What's in this recipe you ask....

3 Papers, 3 Flowers, 2 Buttons and a Bow... And of course a Magnolia stamp!

I used 3 of the papers from my Basic Grey Nook and Pantry Paper Pad that I got from Kristy! I hope she gets her store open soon so you guys can get one too - these paper pads make it foolproof to co-ordinate your card! The flowers are from Kellie's Magnolia Down Under Store and from Bizzy Becs. I've used one of my older Tildas this week - poor thing needed some love!

I've used last week's layout from Friday Sketchers - I didn't get a chance to play last week so I figured why waste a fabulous sketch and used it anyway!

Now don't forget that MDUC has moved - my links in this post and on my sidebar are to the new blog! And while you're there check out the other wonderful inspiration from the rest of this week's DT - and also check out the wonderful prize up for grabs too. Hope to see your challenge entry soon...

WARNING WARNING - WE HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS!!!!! Next week MDUC is turning ONE!!!!! WOW!!! And to celebrate we are having a Birthday Blog Hop with prizes galore - so make sure you set your alarms and mark your diaries for NEXT Sunday (14th March)

Mo's Challenge #21 - A Colour Combo

This week Mo's Challenge is a colour combo - can you guess what it is - Blue, Brown and a Neutral. I've chosen to use Mo's Cinderella this week - I have quite a few of Mo's fabulous images and am trying to make sure I use them all - at least once - LOL. Poor Cinderella - I wonder if she's seen the large spiderweb in the corner she has to sweep up - hmmmm - can see a few of those at my place now I'm looking!!!

My layout is thanx to this week's sketch from Friday Sketchers. My DP is from my Figgy Basic Grey paper pad - this was a Christmas pad so I'm not sure if it's still available! My gorgeous roses are from Bizzy Bec's. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up and just seemed to be right for this gal!
Have a WONDERFUL weekend everyone - we have a 3 day weekend here in Melbourne and I'm off to the Paperific show tomorrow too - so it's going to be a GREAT one for me.

Is Your Baby Girl a Little Angel???

This month Creatalicious Challenges asked us to create a little something and this week Anya Ink have asked us to make something other than a card! I was starting to wonder what to come up with for these challenges when I received an email newsletter from Christine Wooden from All That Scraps. In the newsletter there was a wonderful tutorial by Diane Zechman for using Copics on baby onesies - HOW CUTE!!!! Diane has the tutorial on her blog HERE if you want to check it out!

Well as you can see I HAD to try this out - what an adorable gift you could make - with a matching card, box - the list is endless! Obviously I have used a baby's t-shirt instead of a onesie - but the concept is the same. It was really quick and easy to do - once I had the shirt washed and dried! The only hard part was not being able to blend my copics as easily as on CS.

I have painted on fabric before and was tempted to paint over the image with textile medium - but I stuck to the tutorial for this one. My next job is to test how water safe this is after washing - stay tuned - I'll let you know how it goes.

A Sweet Treat From The Stamp Spot!

Isn't this Lolli Anya just the sweetest little gal around?? She's one of the new images Marcia will have instore at The Stamp Spot once she's all unpacked from her move! I couldn't resist getting this cutie when Marcia offered her DT some of the stamps early and I thought my Wednesday post for The Stamp Spot blog was the perfect time to showcase her.

This is only a small card - about 4" square - but I love that there's still room for embellishments and some fun! It's made from the 3 largest Labels 2 Nestabilities and was inspired by THIS wonderful easel card by Debbie Dolphin - I love the way this clever crafter uses shapes! I hope I can pass this inspiration on to others!

To add to all the sugary sweetness of this card I've sugar coated the lollipop with some Dazzling Diamonds. The DP is from one of my Basic Grey paper pads that I got from The Stamp Spot. Marcia also has roses instore for your embellishing pleasure.

Hope the rest of your week flies by - the weekend is on it's way. It's a 3 day weekend for us here in Melbourne with the Paperific show on too - wooohoooooooo - my kind of weekend!!!!

Oh, Alice - Chapter Two

Well I'm not sure what got into me while I was putting this together - but boy did I have fun! It's great to go a little crazy sometimes and Johnny Depp's version of the Mad Hatter can't be anything but a little on the wild side - LOL. This week Oh, Alice have a wonderful sketch to play along with. I figured time plays a large part in the story so I pulled out my SU set "A Sense of Time" - the clock face, the gears on the background and the sentiment are all from this set. The clock face has been sprayed with gold glimmermist for some interest! I found this wonderful wool on sale and thought it would be fabulous to add some funky fun texture.
Do you recognise my Mad Hatter??? He's TGF's digi stamp Hugh - and I've popped a clipart tophat on his head and added the 10/6 label above the ribbon. I thought his wild hair was just right for the Mad Hatter! And don't you just love his green eyeshadow?!?!?! Johnny Depp's character has green eyes but eyeshadow was the best I could do here! The DP is a mixture of TGF and Basic Grey.
